It takes tons of motivation for me to finish anything.
jumped ideas cause i have none, fuck my brain

what painting is that cropped from

I know how it feels. Maybe you should focus on doing good sketch and use it? Depends on a technique I guess, but lady that was doing art course that I attended said that some of my drawings look good in sketchbook.
>>2299940
I understand, though it's a bit different for me. It depends on my mood but mostly on the actual part of the painting I'm doing. For example, I'll sketch a whole scene, build solid foundations for the painting and so on, render one part of it to my likes... Then lose any motivation to continue. So I'll just rush through the rest to have a finished piece and that's it. This is how I often have half of the painting way below my actual skill level.

Depends on how good the idea is?
Usually I stop after the sketch. Everything else is miracles
>>2300226
You sick fuck. Mine is quite literally the exact opposite of yours.
Will probably never finish anything.
>>2300246
I know your pain too well.
I hate ideation
>>2300305
Why does it happen man? I should aim for concept art since that doesn't have to go much further than a sketch, the only problem is I'm not inventive for shit. Not gonna fuckin make it, man.
Sorry for the stupid question but what is meant by "rendering"? That would be something the computer automatically does, no?
>>2300355
Well you can render in a 3d program where the computer calculates the lighting, but the term is used in painting and drawing too. It's basically synonymous with "polishing" or "shading" or "refining". It's preferred over "shading" though because you can also be adding light and not just shadows. Rendering is when you take something from a sketch and clean it up and add detail and so on until you have a finished image.

Thanks, makes sense.
>>2299912
Polishing and finishing stage is the most tedious and requires many e-books or podcasts
>>2300365
Only person in here who hasn't lost his mind yet. Maybe more of you would still enjoy art if you had a healthier work ethic.

I have to come up with ideas to respond to a prompt, so I don't just get to start off of inspiration. Idea generation is the worst part, especially, if the subject matter is not something I'm interested in. Bascially, you just feel like an idiot for a while, as you struggle to come up with something perfect.
There's a bit of a boost once I've nailed down a concept, but then working out a composition is a bit annoying, also. Once you've nailed that down and it's time to sketch it out fullsize, things are much better, peaking a bit at the point where you start to work on the final product from a finished sketch.
Final art is fine for a while, but I usually hit a slump as I realize certain things won't work, or as I need to reverse a few steps, undo a few things.
As the puzzle comes together, I feel great as each problem is solved, and you can start to see the final image. Finishing is always the climax.
I should start finishing stuff.
What?

this is me
>>2300685
Yeah, this is me.
>>2300353
Is more about the fact that I should craft my rendering skills.
doesn't help me because my ideas aren't the best lately
>>2299912
none of you are going to make it
