What are your plans? Have someone code and do the art for it? I dabbled a bit in programming games and fighting games is probably the hardest genre to do right. Maybe start with a simple dungeon crawler, you can do that without a lot of programming knowledge. Look at Libgdx or something even simpler like RPGCreator

STOP. Before you do any more work on fighting game sprites, go look at CAPCOM's work from Marvel Vs Capcom 2, Capcom Vs SNK 2, Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Street Fighter 3rd Strike.

The 2D animation in these titles are some of the best in any game or genre, and the sprites are 100% grounded in good animation before anything else.

Just about every frame in every animation is full of energy and eye-pleasing silhouette, and most importantly, TIMING is a huge factor, so every frame is specifically tailored for each animation to fit.

I am a huge animation fan, and I honestly think that Capcom in the late 90s/ early 2000s did better work than any other studio (game or not) could've done.

Pretty much no other media has come close to capturing action, style, and momentum in a fight like they did.
