try this. im not saying it'll work for you but it worked for me
set up an easel and a canvas so it blocks out what is behind the canvas. then paint what you think is behind it, like you are filling in a puzzle.
it's really difficult to set up and accomplish, and i've yet to do a good painting that way, but it requires a ton of concentration and discipline to both be able to remember what you blocked out and not look behind the canvas for hints.
