My American ancestors settled the Jamestown Colony and the Plymouth Rock, Massachusetts Colony. I've found gateway ancestors which led all the way back to Medieval Times. My tree goes back to Charlemagne. And if you're the descendant of Western Europeans, then yours does, too!

It's possible that one of my ancestors got together with an Indian, but if so I don't really care. Most of my ancestors were peasants who immigrated to Minnesota or Canada. Not too many black folks up there. I was reading about this one American ethnic group who thought they were a mixture of Spanish and Indian people, I forget what they're called, but nope, it turns out they're the descendants of white women and black men. There's also Thomas Jefferson's black descendants, who now want to get buried in the Jefferson family plot, much to the anger of the white Jefferson descendants. Kek, what a mess.

I don't think anything tops the first one (or two) movies, but personally I like the series more. It's more, say, psychological, if that's the right word. Still a fair amount of action scenes, but don't expect a lot of them.
