The F-89 Scorpion, an all weather interceptor designed to shoot down Soviet bombers over Canada, or wherever those pesky intruders thought of going.
The Americans were thinking of using the F-89s to fire nuclear rockets into the bomber stream.
They carried conventional guided and unguided air to air rockets as well. I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that!
The Canadians are ready to help too!
The CF-100 was an All-Canadian fighter, designed to handle the harsh weather and wide expanses of the north.
Watch out, Ivan!
On the left is the CF-105 Arrow, we never actually got to build many of these, probably because of American balance of power concerns. A third world superpower would have simply destroyed the delicate balance of the Cold War.
I just really love Mirages
Ecuadorian F1s scored some aerial kills against Peru according to wikipedia
The A-4 Skyhawk is the Demi Lovato of jet fighters: short, cute, and thick.
Sometimes I like looking at planes just sitting on the apron getting fixed with panels open or just waiting for action. Sort of like seeing a girl get dressed.
Watch out, Tommy.

Pretty sure that's a Sukhoi bruv.
I always loved the F-104 Starfighter. U.S. didn't use it for long but the Germans used it for years. I used to see them when I was a boy in Germany. Thought they looked some futuristic back then. Now they look dated but I still like them.

The Warthog is so named cause it's ugly but if you see it in action it's beautiful like an angel in the sky. Movies don't give you a good idea of what it's like to see and hear the vulcan cannon fire in this thing. The sound is as though someone tore a hole in reality. The effect is pure devastation.
>>2625234
>Sukhoi
You are correct sir. Could be mistype. It's the SU-30 they dropped MIG. I love the bruv thing. Saw it in video on news with U.K. Muslim telling terrorist "you ain't Muslim bruv".In U.S. only meathead, douchebags, white boys use "bro". Many use "bra" like in Hawaii. Just a social comment. Love English language.

That's not particularly accurate.

That's a Sukhoi, cyкa.
>>2626383
The A-10 Could penetrate The t-62 but you are correct it's kill rate with the main gun was unimpressive. So the military developed the Apache as main tank killer and also fix the Warthog with hellfire missiles which are tank killers. The A-10 was moved to close air support and their it is an angel in the sky delivering fire and brimstone to smite any enemy armoured vehicles or personnel that give you a problem. They can fly slow and low and are practically indestructible. They fill their new combat roll so well that phasing out this 40 year old weapons system has been delayed several times because it is a shark. No need to evolved.
You are either in your 50's or reading old Jane's updates. It's modern role is as an asskicker.

sorry for not contributing but id like to know which models are the top class fighters these days in terms of tech
ive read about the raptor, but what else
>>2631024
That's like asking "what is the best car these days?". It all depends on the use case.
>>2631024
The F22 and F35 as far as 5th generation fighters and it's not even close.
I'd day the Russian T-50 too as a close 3rd but they can't get their heads out of their asses and get it working. It's suffering from "F-35 Syndrome" ten fold as costs are rising exponentially while project goals are overshot.
The Eurofighter, Rafael and F16/18/15 are still competitive too- but 4th generation fighters are finding themselves at a huge disadvantage as systems trend toward "see first, shoot first" which favors dedicated stealth designs.
>>2623932
Yeah....no.
Program was penetrated by KGB.
Not capable of integration into NA continental defense infrastructure.
US had 2-3 planes, with mass production economies, that matched it's performance 5-7 years before.
It was a peak example of juuuust obsolete tech.
>>2622546
I mean, why on Earth would a strategic bomber count as a fighter
but why not
You guys are all high-rez fags for not posting Nazi jets. Me 262 was the first fighter jet in the world, 100 mph faster than any silly prop planes the allies were using.

You had something better in 1950-1952?
While the Russian concern was somewhat valid, it was way overblown. It was US pressure to adopt (awful) Bomarc missiles, and their desire to steal our aerospace industry employees that killed the program.

Grandpa was a machinist and later engineer at the Skunkworks. Some good stories about turning the Starfighter into the U-2. I should write these up sometime.

Is that from a movie? It feels kind of surreal.
The second production model F-35A Lightning II aircraft flies above the compass rose of Rogers Dry Lakebed at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., May 13, 2011. The aircraft, designated AF-6, ferried to Edwards AFB from Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base, Texas, following the Air Force formally accepting the fighter into its inventory the day before. The first production jet, AF-7, was delivered to Edwards May 6, making six total F-35 aircraft in the test program on base. (Courtesy photo/Paul Weatherman) - from image's metadata
