That's a water/mold spot. That's what happens when you store film or prints improperly. Film, and then printing onto photo paper is how we used to take "photographs" before the advent of digital photography.

What a horrible fucking war. All those poor lads seeing their fathers going out in WW2 to save the world, the whole country working together to defend the evil axis, life or death. Will with this propoganda about the great American heroe's fresh in their mind they feel the need to protect the country like their fathers. And Bam they get down there and it's just a total shitstorm and the whole country hates em when they get back

poor fuckers
>>
>>2498431
yup. and it been like that for pretty much every 'war' since... no clearly defined enemy. always trying to help the locals who don't even have the will to help themselves.
its always a loosing prospect.
>>
>>2498431
Nice talk dude! This ware really an horrible war!
And everything was done in the name of the fight the communist in Vietnam and in the whole Southeast Asia.
The worst thing is the average age of the american soldier that was 19 years old, despite their fathers have had 23.

will I ever be well again?

will I ever be whole?
If I grit my teeth
and stretch and strain
will I attain such a goal?

will I ever be strong again?
will I ever be brave?
If I set my face
and I raise my chin
will I dare to come out of the cave?

will I ever be useful again?
will I ever serve the cause I believe?
If I penitent crawl
and recant it all
will the powers yet grant a reprieve?

will I ever be normal again?
will I ever come close?
if I paint my face blank
and sing the same tune
will I strike a convincing pose?

will I ever belong again?
did I ever belong before?
we are born in the like
of the God spurned and killed
and our souls with each other still war

will I ever be real again?
no – not any more real than this
for I breathe in the atoms
of rocks and of waves
and the wind that stirred the abyss

Most wars throughout history have been that way, WWII made us delusional
>>
>>2517706
Most wars throughout history have lacked clearly defined enemies and been bogged down with helping locals? Can you site some examples?

From US history: Revolution- clear enemy
1812- clear enemy
Mexican-American War- clear enemy
Civil War- clear enemy
Spanish-American War- clear enemy
WWI- clear enemy
WWII- clear enemy
Even Korea, ugly as it was, had a clear enemy

It's only over the last half century that we've started fighting idiotic wars to which we're only half committed, with no clear victory to win even if we had the will to win it.
>>
>>2498476
oh my, you delusional usfags. ww2 was all but over when you joined in, you didn't win it, you just helped finish it. and every "war" you have been in since then was an invasion, realy. when you pretend to bring "freedom and democracy" by brining death and destruction you can be very sure the locals will not like you, except for those that see an oportunity.
>>
>>2517763

You do realize that there have been more conflicts than that right? Conflicts that have not involved America?
>>
>>2517763
A good example would probably be the Spanish Civil War, since you had half-a-dozen different countries putting their hands into the same bowl.
Also, I don't think you can consider the War of 1812 having a clear enemy since the Americans were fighting several different factions including the British, Canadians, and Native Americans (from both sides of the border).

Began Sept. 39, with nothing really happening until early 1940.
Shit gets real mid 1940
U.S. enters end of '41
Nazis in full retreat by winter '42
European war ends May '45, while Americans take on the Japs nearly alone (aide from Australians and New Zealanders)

Though it'd be accurate to say Russia did most of work, America's contribution can't be disregarded

August Storm is a real example of entering after it's all over.

Despite the masterful execution of deep battle/operations, it was the Red Army at the height of its power vs. a bunch of 14 and 50 year olds. The best of the Japanese Army was either stuck in China or had starved to death in the Pacific.

How do any of the wars you've cited have a 'clear' enemy? UIS Civil War? You serious nigga?

No war has a 'clear' enemy. What you must have is a 'clear' objective and the will to win. It's not that hard to understand - not withstanding the hoards of the ignorant, but it is remarkably hard to achieve. Leadership is vaguely related if I recall correctly.

Wrong description. This is a US Ranger paradiving into a hot LZ near the Laos border. A .50 Browning and ammo was deployed shortly before the pic was taken.

something like 80% of the population would have voted for the communists if given the chance, with the dictator of 'south vietnam' being a nut who murdered his own people. The NVA was completely decimated and near capitulation when we pulled out. We did so for political reasons, not militaristic. Even to most conservative estimates admit that while the US lost ~50,000 troops, the NVA and VC lost somewhere around 2 million. That is a staggering difference, hardly a "loss".

The mere fact that the US became DISINTERESTED in those shit-box countries does not qualify it as a loss.

Troops US were conscripts, NVA and VC partisane, guerilla. Just some US boys and very young men to kill mainly civilians in the jungle...the US covertly invaded a country, called in by the french colonials to eradicate a socialist partly supported by the vietnamese people that could be an ally for the cccp and the cold war, fueling parts of the well oiled US warindustry aka weaponshows ( jets and napalm)...fighting for a so called shadow aka fantasy and a money swindle...it shows how utterly disrespectful and how utterly stupid americans always have been. >US lost ~50,000 troops

It doesn't matter. Those were troops you could not afford to lose. It cost too much in public opinion.

The NVA/VC didn't have to "win," they just had to resist and survive long enough for the war to become unpalatable for the American public.

It's the exact same way the British "lost" the American revolution btw. The British public would no longer support the war because it was costly and unpalatable, so the British pulled out and let the Americans win. It was all decided in the British parliament. The Brits didn't want to pour more money and lives into a pointless conflict with people they did not believe to be truly enemies.

But that may not even be the point. The whole American involvement in Vietnam may have simply been a show of force, to make the deterrent of America's military a credible deterrent. Also make the USSR spend a bunch of money on a useless client state.

But they don't. America has been obsessed with the negative aspects of the Vietnam war since it happened. The only reason you know enough about it to be critical is because of American journalism at the time and American films later. The sad fact is that...

I don't know. . . I guess you have a point but a significant portion of American conservatives think that the war was perfectly justified and perfectly well conducted, and if weren't for those hippie traitors kicking up such a fuss it would have went fine. I don't even buy into all the anti-American memes surrounding Vietnam but it is frustrating to see regime change operation follow intervention follow clientage etc etc ad infinitum.

I know plenty about Americas recent history, I could name half a dozen brutal client arrangements the Americans set up but none of them went quite so badly as South Vietnam. At least not in magnitude. I mean the Philippines were pretty bad but how many American schoolchildren could even point out those islands on a map? Let alone remember the war there? That's where the Americans discovered waterboarding btw.
>>
>>2626851
And yet the US - almost single handedly - won the cold war. And why did it remain mostly a 'cold' war? Better if you answer that for yourself.

Look, the US does a lot of retarded shit. Much of it is cleaning up after euro imperialism. It would be nice if someone else could pitch in and give more than token support instead of sniping from the sidelines.
>>
>>2626856

Hey, tens of thousands of my countrymen volunteered to fight in Vietnam for the Americans. You're welcome.
>>
>>2517869
The "War" of 1812 was complete bullshit. That was no war. We would have kick the British asses if we really wanted to.
>>
>>2626856
Well that's just the thing, most U.S. allies don't have the capacity or desire to pitch in, and simply like to rely on the U.S. for everything military related while complaining about the U.S. for being a military nation.

It's the U.S. military that guards the trade routes of the world and it's the U.S. military that kept the Russians from taking over Europe and other parts of Asia, yet as a nation all we get is shit from the 1st world because other countries are all too willing to forget what happened when their leaders also had armies.

Hell I'll be one of the first people to say that the U.S. government has done some super sketchy shit, and has subsequently used the military for questionable purposes, but it's not like anyone else is able or willing to step up to the plate, especially most first world countries.

In fact that's originally what the European Union was for, a way to keep Germany and France from having strong militaries so another great European war didn't happen again, in the form of the European Coal and Steel Community which neutered the capacity for either nation to supply themselves with the raw materials most commonly needed for war at the time.

And for countries in other parts of the world the issue lies in the fact that they don't have economies strong enough to support a military large enough to defend themselves against most large foreign powers, with many countries in South America and South-east Asia being good examples of this.
>>
>>2627351
Sure. Like when the Brits kicked your asses and occupied Washington in 1814 and the government (including the President) ran away to Maryland. Only thing that saved the US government that day was a freak thunderstorm.
>>
>>2627351
You realize the war of 1812 was a war started on principle, not any actual military strength, and that the only reason the British government decided to leave us alone was because their merchants were complaining they didn't have that juicy American trade anymore?
>>
>>2517800
