Some of you seem to hate it when Sabaton is referenced in threads here but then again, a few of you like to make comment chains of their lyrics.

What's the consensus then?

Favourite album/song?

Which historical period do they do the best job of representing? What's the worst?

Personally, I love all the songs in Carolus Rex and Art of War but a few of their songs feel significantly biased against the traditional enemies of Sweden.
>>
>>959290
I personally think that they are alright. Their best albums are probably Carolus Rex and Heroes, and the best song is probably Gott Mit Uns.
>>
>>959312
Gott Mitt Uns is a good one, I like Price of A Mile and The Caroleans' Prayer.
>>
>>959312
Personally, i think their best abum is Carolus Rex. Best song though? It's a good toss-up between Gott Mit Uns, Carolus Rex, Ghost Division, and Panzer Batallion. Can't honeslty can't pick between them.

God bless King Adolphus, he was hugely instrumental in the Liberating of Protestant Europe from the yoke of Roman popery. We need him today

Night Witches is perfect, especially if you consider the band typically dislikes most other Soviet Russia things.

I only know those 5 songs in the EU4 drums and steel music pack and Ghost Division because once I saw a nice video with that in the background.

Musically speaking, I could never really get into them. I am not the biggest power metal fan.

Lyrically, they seem to have some flaws and oversimpification problems, but are good enough for an overview on a topic.

Catholic church had its problems. Luther attacked these problems and brought them to light. Diet of Worms happened where they tried to make him recant his statements. He was kept safe in Wurzburg, I think. Politicians used this as an opportunity to break away from the bloated and corrupt institution whose leaders and agents have been long known to be the very antithesis to the teachings of the religion they profess to believe in. Not to say that the politicians themselves were beautiful and innocent flowers, but much like the Thirty Years' War it was driven by a fundamentally political core than a religious one when it started spreading.

Sure, Erasmus had a point in that the split was needless but the Church had its problems. There needed to be a revitalization and a reawakening of sorts to slap the faith back into focus with what was important.

Christ and scripture. Not frivolities concerning traditions, as well as the abuse of the faith of the believers.

Then again, how could have they known how to worship properly when the monks, the people who were supposed to have been literate, austere and deeply versed in the Word, were being indecent, abusive and couldn't even read themselves. And these were the people tasked with spreading the word and telling people about it when not all people then were literate?

I do think there was a point to all of this though. Why make us go through this bullshit if there wasn't a message behind it all? Maybe it was to teach us to be tolerant and to accept legitimate criticism and concerns? Or was it to help Europe rise into the prominence it came into? The ground laid by the Thirty Years' war and its repercussions did case the creation of the modern nation state. Loyalty to state and not religion, rise of France and the Bourbons, Spanish decline, further weakening of the HRE. Whose to say?

Does this satisfy you?

You aren't addressing my thesis.
>Sweden's current state is a direct consequence of the Protestant splintering of Christendom.
Is this true or false?
>>
>>959449
I'd say false. Germany is infested with Muds, be it in Catholic Bavaria or in Protestant Bavaria.

Pope Francis is Catholic. He IS the pope after all. But he's inviting all the refugees nonetheless. Despite the security escort, a refugee child and it's mum was able to sneak through the crowd and get to the Pope and spread a message about accepting more rapefugees in.

France is infested with Africans and muslims just the same as Sweden and the UK are.

Let's not forget who the PIIGS are too. Portugal. Italy, Ireland. Greece. Spain. Mostly Catholic roster no?

I'd blame it more on the subversive leftists who don't see themselves attached to any religion but that of their little pet muslims. They'd fight to let the muds in, no matter what religion they are. One hivemind.
>>
>>959471
The 25-year rule applies on this board. Please try not to be racist. Again, you aren't really addressing my thesis. The Protestant splintering of Christendom is responsible for a lot of things that have happened since Luther's lifetime.
>>
>>959477
Catholicism is responsible for:
>Donation of constantine and other forgeries
>Sack of Constantinople
>Inquisition
>Concealing pedophile priests and their crimes against children.

The scales of justice are far tipped against your religion

As a fan of metal, I find the singer to be terrible. The guitar and drum work is boring too.

This is an example of something I find enjoyable to listen to while being historical.

Deserves a wew for the singer, but the children's choir is not bad.

But this would be more to my taste as well. TMDC and TPH are pretty good, but very niche.

>Sabaton

Are these the guys who do covers of modern rock tunes on medieval instruments, or heavy metal clowns?
>>
>>959449
Depends on what you mean by "current state", if there's something you're particular about. It's silly to think that current day Swedish labour law is a result of the split in Christianity.
>>
I'd say the song about Carleous Rex (sic too lazy to look it up now) is the best one.

I'd wager it would be a good theme song for trump. The 30 years war album about Sweeden was their best work.
>>
I've been to Sabaton Open in Sweden, and I was surprised by the fact that it felt as if there was more people from outside the country than natives. So you'd have conversation about "Resist and Bite" with some dude from Belgium and their contribution to WW2 while people listened to Metal and everyone talked about how great their country was without shit-talking other countries.

Was decent, will probably go again some time in the future.
>>
>>959449
False. You've offered no support of your proposal anyway.

Always liked this one. One thing that always puzzled me is the sentence "men of the cross and the hammer"

Cross is obviously christianity but what is hammer referring to? Norse paganism?
>>

That one is good but this one is the best in the album IMO
