May I ask what your expectation regarding Germany's culture is? Germany has been absorbing wanderers forever. Comes with the territory. After 1945 millions of people came from the areas that fell under the Soviet and Polish yoke. Integrated with no big problems.

And regarding absorption, history doesn't always repeat itself. France has been absorbing poles, italians, spaniards, and even lebanese people in the past. Then north africans came, starting in the sixties, and they still aren't assimilated. Third-generation immigrants still have identity problems, still prefer to stay in their community, still adhere to a culture starkly divergent from the dominant and preexistent french culture, and some of them even kill french people because of it.
Things are different. Birth rates, economy, politics... Religion, of course, and I would argue that skin color is part of the issue and maybe the most unsolvable one : not only are these people condemned to be always recognized as foreigners by europeans, they will always see themselves as non-whites too, and as such will always have issues about their "roots", about what they belong to, and so on, and will generally be reluctant to get assimilated because of that among other things. Unlike poles and italians who have to look into their genalogy to be reminded of their origin, these guys just have to look into a mirror.
This isn't comparable to a world war, and germany is mostly destroying itself. It's actually, as far as I know, an unprecedented process. But it's without a doubt a process that is likely to destroy western european nations.

This just sets a bad precedent. Future civil wars and humanitarian disasters will also lead to millions seeking refuge in Europe. These disasters are already brewing in Afghanistan, India, Algeria, Egypt, Mali, Nigeria and South Africa. People saying 1 million immigrants per year are exaggerating a bit, but half that many for the next two decades are entirely within the realm of possibility. The sinking prices of commodities and oil prices has sent many economies in the development world into recession. Combined with climate change, water crisis and/or El Niño causing several droughts across the world, you have humanitarian crisis everywhere right now. Some of these are bound to explode into violence.
The refugees won't be distributed evenly among European countries. They will go almost exclusively for the well-off parts of rich European countries. Fear of terrorism and crime will also cause a flight of people towards other regions without immigrants, so the demographic change in these cities is going to be very noticeable in just a decade. These cities were equipped with the best infrastructure in the world and won't be easily replaced. Business centers moving away from them is going to hit European economies and guarantee that many of the immigrants turn to crime.
Immigrants don't need to become a majority in Europe to give rise to Right Wing fascists in politics, which will lead to a radicalization of Left Wing movements. This will make Europe extremely unstable and polarized, with its own population turning against each other and parliaments that will be too occupied attempting to block the other side to actually focus on important things.
