The situation in Germany was incomparable with no large scale independence movements or various minorities.

Read up about the 'new Europe school' (The New Europe was a magazine that ran until 1920/1921) within the UK at the time who were brought into the government to advise on policy and advise during the paris peace conference. The two 'main' members of it were Robert William Seton-Watson and James Wycliffe Headlam-Morley, both were accepted as the foremost experts on Central and Eastern Europe, particularly every single one of the nationalities contained within Austria-Hungary.

They were both proponents of moving beyond the militaristic top-down jingoistic nationalism that had resulted in the formation of Germany, and in favour of a popular, bottom-up nationalism of the kind that resulted in the revolutions of 1848, a much more 'liberal' nationalism anyway.

As such they also believed in protecting national minorities, and advocated promoting a more liberal nationalism in smaller nation-states to counterbalance against the nationalism that had been seen in large multi-ethnic empires; which they thought had contributed largely to the outbreak of the war.

You couldn't really split up germany like you could split up Austria-Hungary, there wasn't really any regiobalism in germany to exploit nor where there large ethnic divides like in A-H, besides A-H had already pretty much collapsed by the end of the war
It's pretty hard to justify splitting up a nation state like that which has surrendered.

Yes, the war really kickstarted the dismantling of A-H. You had minority but vocal groups like Masaryk and co. for the Czechs basically transforming a nation mostly wanting autonomy within the empire into a nation wanting to get rid of anything Austrian in a very short space of time.
