>some anglo pronounce the "tion" ending of a word "shun"
>>827428
>anglos reading latin
>>827428
I fucking hate this Anglo shit. Rather than transliterating the word, they keep the original spelling and then completely butcher the pronounciation.
>reads like <sound> in <word>
Fucking English. You natives, who never bothered to learn a second language, have no idea how poor your language is.
>>827450
To be fair, most words ending with "-tion" entered English language following the French conquest of England during Middle Age.
No one back then gamve a shit about authenticity of pronounciation
>>827461
I mean shit like pronouncing Zeus "zoos" and pronouncing Jacob "Jay-cob". Why not just transliterate it as Yakob?
>>827450
There's a reason for that. It's easier to trace the etymology if you keep the original spelling.

Ceaser was prounenced as kaisa during his life
>In Greek, during Caesar's time, his family name was written Καίσαρ, reflecting its contemporary pronunciation. Thus, his name is pronounced in a similar way to the pronunciation of the German Kaiser.

>>828909
Yeah I can see how that's pronounced based on my interactions with Slavic speaking peoples
>>828915
In the moscow dialect "O" is pronounced as "A" for some reason. The rest of slavs don't do that. Also the rest of us slavs call them Rusia - ru (as in the rou in rouble)+sia(see ya)
Y'all niggas really gotta get into phonetics. Especially when using English, which has a very deep orthography and a heinoous relationship between spelling and pronunciation, the IPA is an absolute necessity. I'll try to clear some things up.
Caesar is pronounced siːzɚ by some Anglos.
Caesar was probably pronounced ka͜esar while he was alive.
The German word Kaiser is pronounced ka͜Jzɐ, so it's still far from the original pronunciation.
