Holy shit, I never realized that was Richard Lewis.
>>
>>807614
Yes. He plundered his subjects, killed his nephew for the throne, tortured noblewomen and their sons, and was a half crazy fuck who lost the Angevin Empire.
>>

Richard Lewis? He was literally playing a Jewish King John

>treyf!
>>
>>810447
>killed his nephew for the throne

>Tries to usurp his uncle's throne with support of the French king
>Gets rekt

>>
>>810447

So wasn't much different to the rest of the Plantagenets then?
>>
>>810641

Yep, he was 16, not some babe in arms.
>>
>>807906
wow. no shit he didn't.
>>
>>810642
I'll give you that, but he didn't directly do much to justify his crazy shit, even Henry III and Richard II had their moments and achievements.

>>810641
By the laws of Anjou it was right for the eldest son of the eldest son to inherit, and Arthur was that exactly. The issue was that by Norman law John had just as much a claim. Though I would say that Arthur's claim was enhanced by his general support among people and that he had yet to prove himself irresponsible as opposed to John.

Pretty much
Robber barons with pretensions one and all
>>

There was no such thing as "primogeniture" by the time, Richard appointed John as his heir.

This is true, not to mention the problems with inflation across Europe at the time. However, his methods of obtaining money from his nobles and peasantry were ridiculous and he went way too far. He was a shrewd fucking dick.

One example of him gaining money was him taking away Priest's mistresses and having them pay to have them back. He would force people also to pay him to gain permission for a marriage, at ridiculous sums. And much more.
