Dostoyevsky once said that being "too conscious" is a disease. If so then what's the cure?
Vodka.

First post best post.
But think about it, vodka leads to un-conscious-ness, which is the cure to conscious-ness. I'll drink to that.

it truly is this, as a neurotic insecure anxiety-riddled person on the road to recovery
You'll find your problem spanning the midline of your skull about 2 inches behind the outer edge of your eyebrows. The traditional approach is a rigid probe inserted through the orbit, but this technique, while minimally invasive, also damages the orbitofrontal cortex which is important for sensory integration.
We recommend a circular excision of the superior-anterior corner of the temporal bone roughly 1 inch in diameter (see diagram) followed by the insertion and vigorous "swishing" motion of a rigid probe.

If the above approach is contraindicated, as in the case of a patient with a history of hemorrhagic stroke, a suction tool may be used to remove the neocortex without risking damage to the surrounding vasculature.

Why would you slap a cute, trusting nip girl?
The Underground Man said that, and what he was talking about is essentially the Socratic impulse Nietzsche talked about.

Lots of Drugs. Distraction. Whatever you want. I'm partial to sitting by a river with something to eat, or canoeing.

Good sleep habits, good nutrition, exercise, and the realization that your self-consciousness is just vanity disguising itself in a more virtuous form.

By being too conscious, Dostoevsky was referring to a hyper-intelligent person: a person who can't act because he understands the Other that he is expected to be in opposition with.
In other words, he understand the Other; and, thus, can't act on anything. If most people are like a yin or a yang, then the conscious person would be both yin and yang, and thus, friends with everything, but, also, at odds with everything. Quite the conundrum.
