Maybe you are afraid of yourself, or see yourself as nothing. I am pretty comfortable with myself, gods or no gods.
One day you talk about faith and how leaps in rationale must be made, the next you discredit atheists has the ones without it. Do you truly believe that adult atheists have an emotional or social stake in being atheists?
I'm not in high school, and nobody in my office knows or cares about what I believe in or don't believe in. I could be a fucking Wiccan for all they care. Believe me friend, my reasons for being atheist have very little do with emotion. Indeed, emotionally I would like to believe, like to give in, so that I could hope for an afterlife.
But it's futile. The logical and rational chains linking what we can see in corporeality to your or anyone's God just aren't there. This is of course, where the concept of faith comes in. Would you call faith rational?
