In any case, plenty of Serbs in A-H stayed loyal to the empire, I remember reading how Serbian officers were highly disappointed when they realized Serbs and Croats in A-H Army weren't that eager to fight for Serbia.
Ironically, more Czechs deserted than Serbs and Croats.
Also, this guy was a Serb (though Croats claim he's Orthodox Croat, not like it matters).

It's a complex subject.
You can't really say A-H intentions were good, they tried hard to pitch Serbs and Croats against each other, and on the other hand they pushed for Bosniak identity in Bosnia, as a third side.
This would've kept South Slavs in the empire divided and impotent.

Considering the Germans basically decided to go to war 'in a couple of years' in 1912, and considering the Russians embarked on a grand rearmament plant, and considering the Austrians had their plans to get involved in the Balkans further (regardless of the assassination), yep, war was most probably coming.
