requesting reading lists or recommendations for books that will give me firm understandings of Marxism, socialism, communism, capitalism, and political theories in general too.

Thanks.

[Inbe4 the "Short Intro" series- I already have those on a number of topics and they are as titled just short introductions. I want to be able to debate these issues with the firmest possible grasps of them].
>>
And no they don't always have bibliographies in them that I could use

Theses Feuerbach
German Ideology
Anti-Duhring
Contribution to a critique of political economy
Condition of the working class in England
Family, Private Property, The State
Capital
Grundriesse

Nice dubs
But these mostly sound like the primary sources, or the writings of Marx himself. I'm sure I'll prolly read them at some point but I'm after literature that discusses these theories critically

Theory of Justice Rawls

You can't be serious. Why would you ever recommend it before Justice as Fairness.
>>
Thanks folks these are sounding good- more pls keep them coming
Why does the idea of gaining knowledge thrill me

So you want secondary sources of political theory?

There's a board for that. >>>/pol/
>>
>>469662
You have to be joking. If anyone on that cesspit had ever read a book other than mein kampf thst board wouldn't be as pitiful as it currently is.

I will read the primary texts but as any historian would know, what scholars and peers have said to evaluate the soundness of those theories is important.

As an undergrad I usually approached primary sources after background reading and getting understanding of them through what scholars had written about them. As if I can arrive at an understanding of communism just by reading 'capital', for example.
>>
But feel free to post primary texts too, I'll add all recommendations to the reading list I'm compiling.

Political science and political philosophy is /his/. Political events are /pol/.
>>
For the far right, you've got too many disperate and idiosyncratic texts. Part of the reason why even the authoritarian left has more intellectual respectability in academia is they actually managed to build a coherent conversation and build off of each other, and everyone on the far right is just kind of going his own.

If you can get a copy of it, the most concise, broad, and effective run down on the actual intellectual content is Contemporary Radical Ideologies: Totalitarian Thought in the Twentieth Century, by A. James Gregor.

Nice dubs
Yea the latter is what I'm after. I need books not news events and current events.

I'm especially interested in being able to critique Marxism atm

Are /pol/. The first isn't even a humanity. The second is literally /pol/.
>>

Well as a history undergrad I had to read plenty of Marxist historians
Theories leach into everything and I'm sorry but I'm not even posting on /pol/. Of you had ever visited, you'd know it's not a serious board and nobody there has ever read anything. I'm getting recommendations from the better-read people here. What is your problem

Are historians.

>but I'm not even posting on /pol/
You should consider doing so.

>[I]f you had ever visited, you'd know it's not a serious board and nobody there has ever read anything.
I have. And it isn't my problem. Go improve the board if you want recommendations on political science and political theory.

>What is your problem
Your off-topic posting. The fact that /cgl/ are all cunts doesn't mean I should ask about lolita dress on /k/.
