Red pill me on Ho Chi Minh

Was he a hero or did he ruin Vietnam?
>>
>was he a hero or did he ruin vietnam?

well history's written by the victors, so as the textbooks stand he's a hero. but in more neutral terms, he was a nationalist who wanted to oust foreign influence over vietnam by any means necessary, and Communism with a mix of nationalist fervor was his chosen method to do it.

You can't really measure what he did for North Vietnam to improve the lives of the people, seeing as he was at war from the day it was established until well after his death. if you want to say the lives of Vietnamese under him were shit, you'd be right because of the non-stop bombings.

so that question will be debated forever and is relative to your worldview. in the eyes of nationalists who see him as a man who removed Western domination over the country, he's a damn hero. To western powers who sought to keep foreign influence over the nation to enforce Containment, he's a rag-tag rebel leader who dragged his country into a 30 year long war that killed a good 1/6 of the population.

Back to /pol/ with you

It's just an expression.

from /pol/.

>You can't really measure what he did for North Vietnam to improve the lives of the people
Authorised the land campaign. Halted the land campaign.

Halted the Southern Revolution. Authorised it after the southern communists started it.

Authorised the General Uprising / General Offensive line. Restored the Giap faction after its apparent failure.

Mixed bag. He survived the 1930s so he was NKVD / Informant.

It may have originated in /pol/ but has since become a phrase that essentially means "give me the real history/explanation on X"
>>
>>459818
No, it's only primarily used on /pol/ by /pol/. Just because someone on /pol/ pops up from time to time and uses it on other boards doesn't mean it's a common phrase elsewhere. It's a huge red flag.
>>
>>459834
Why are you so triggered
>>
>>459818
No, mate. No. Blue, iron, black...
>>
>>459834
I'm not from /pol/ I'm from ylilauta/int/ sorry for triggering you.

We use red pill a lot like that.
>>
>>459589
Shut up you autistic virgin. How do you expect to survive in the real world when you decide to stop being a shut-in when you're so thin-skinned and offended by things that weren't even meant to be offensive.
>>
>>459834
maybe you should relax family

>getting this flustered when told to go back to /pol/
The /pol/ is strong in this one.
>>
Vietnamese gf from Saigon says that although he is regarded as a good man who reunited the country, no one in the south is really happy about the fact they had to deal with communism thanks to him.

Wow I didn't expect a harmless meme like redpill to cause this much damage.

Sorry.
>>
>>459788
>It's just an expression.

That's not even allowed to be used on /pol/ (unless they've changed it) any more due to all the shit-thread it created.

It's on the level of cultural marxism, degeneracy and cuCK.
>>
>>460449
I already said I came from ylilauta where we say it to basically mean "explain to me X"
>>
>>459834

More or less this. East asia in the late 19th century and early 20th century was awash nationalism and freedom from colonization and white man's exploitation. Japan in WW2 being the most notable example. But we also have stuff like the Boxer rebellion etc, etc,

Vietnam in the 50's, going on 60's was only one of these examples and one of the few succesful ones.
>>
>>459587
If America fought war over ideology instead of resources, we frankly should have been on the side of Vietnam as all they really wanted in the end was independence.
>>
>>459587
>because of the non stop bombings
Which ho chi mihn evaded with his diplomatic grace, such as killing 6,000 french pows because of reasons.

Theyre was a legacy of autism following the vietnam war as well, getting sanctioned for over 20 years due to not showing inspectors their lack of pows.

The guy had to die before vietnam could have an economy again.
>>
>>462157
Thats not even a high school level of understanding

>the side of vietnam
>all they wanted was independance

Nigger at least read the wikipedia article on the war. Both sides where puppets of either warsaw or nato trying to obtain and deny geomilitary control of a region in case a war broke out.

I am acquainted with someone whose grandfather was in his inner circle.

I would like to know more, never really had the chance to study their character even though I agree with their cause.
>>
>>459818
Then either quit fucking using it and stop being so fucking naive if you're not from /pol/ or go back to /pol/ if you are from there.
>>
>>462214
Redpill me on /pol/ anon

>puppets
He wishes. He got very limited support compared to the south.
>>
>>462234
Equal parts national socialism and tinfoil. Nothing worthwhile has ever come from that board and literally all of the other boards spend inordinate time and energy convincing them to fuck off and go home because as soon as they realize that they're not in the their faggot hugbox anymore, they go and stay go.
>>
>>459557
Literally did nothing wrong. Except maybe dying too early, I guess.
