/his/ are films inspired by comic books the result of a desire of people to escape the physicalist world view?
As religion is dying out in the west, people seem to feel like a mechanistic physicalist world view is inescapable and comic book inspired films might be a form of escape to a reality where gods do exist and the perceived determinism of human and social life can be transcended.
I myself would love to know what can we propose that would make space for this new kind of freedom. The freedom from a deterministic world that incorporates human life completely within it, including concepts like free will.
Are there already tools for creating this mental freedom that i am simply not aware of?
A society that sees itself as one big biological network of machines, within the huge machine we call the universe needs to restructure many fundamental concepts in order to satisfy the desire to escape the conclusions of the contemporary world view.

No, they are entertaining, they follow familiar, comforting structures and conform to the current ethos.

Supers are basically Greek heroes adapted to modern sensibilities.

This is either a good question or some extremely good bait.

Take the bread pill, anon. Once you open up yourself to a relationship with the Infinity, no amount of movies or le edgy fedora nonsense can dissuade you that there is more to existence than this physical world and the physical world is only an incredibly small part of creation.

People always make fun of HURR JEBUS XDDDD, but Jesus Christ was the Divine in flesh, walking the Earth to show us how to have a relationship with the Divine and transcend the power of sin. Just as He conquered his death, He can conquer our deaths and, therefore, Death itself. It is only possible when you are exposed to the truth that the material world is an incredibly weak and small part of creation as a whole, and holds nothing compared to the power of God.

Jesus Christ lived and died to show you this truth that the material world is an illusion which serves only to affect the changes in us necessary at this stage of our creation.

No.
JEEBUS is an idea that cannot return as it was. It had its time and place, much like greek and roman polytheism.
We need new tools that are appropriate for our time to create a place within the modern world view and ideology for freedom from a mechanistic physicalist world view.

>/his/ are films inspired by comic books the result of a desire of people to escape the physicalist world view?

the irony here is that capeshit films are only made popular BECAUSE of Hollywood's devotion to "the physicalist world view". the reason they're popular is because money-minded businessmen are hustling inoffensive pabulum guaranteed to sell well among the shallow-minded manchild crowd who is also known to spend fast and loose from their trustfunds or neetbux. also, huge merchandising opportunities for so-called nerd culture with tshirts, posters, figurines, etc.

If people wanted to "escape the physicalist", why would they buy all that shit instead of becoming a fucking monk?

>movies are basically ear to mouth stories
>computer language is basically Egyptian hieroglyphs

Any other retarded analogies you wanna make?
The fact super heroes and Greek heroes or gods share similarities does not mean they serve the same purpose.
The question is why did comic book movies become so popular all of a sudden?
Is it possible western society feels it is in a deadlock and american society simply has the means and infrastructure to create such movies?

This is you.

The Divine literally reached into creation to tell us how to get freed from this material world, from the power of sin. Then, He gruesomely forged this path between man and God, straight through Death itself, and threw the sin of those who follow Him into the destruction that awaits those who do not escape it.

Then you say that we need a Marvel superhero to save us from the material. Wow, m8.

Because to them a monk is someone deluded.
To them there also is no problem on a conscious level.
What films often convey are subconscious social desires and needs.
Popular films are cultural products that find sympathy from the majority of the public.
why do people all of a sudden love comic books? Why do they buy merchandise? What is this geek crowed that loves these movies believe? Who do they live these movies and being immersed in this type of fanatsy?
My point is that they are immersed in it because they need an escape which in some somewhat different way was to be found in religion.
Now however religion cannot be an answer anymore. Religions in their contemporary form, at least in the west are simply out of date.
They give answers that no longer fit any questions.

>all of a sudden
demographic change, which is why there are so many incredibly poorly made shows like Supergirl or Green Arrow soaking up popularity on television
Utilities like Tivo, Netflix, and other digital streaming sites increased the amount of control a viewer could have over their television, and gradually the only people who still cling to the TV and its programs were the same (poor, plebeian) audience who ate up other outdated forms of media.

It's not "all of a sudden". If anything the comic book is actually on its way out, because their medium is stagnating significantly and only sells to the same insecure crowd of adult babies rather than expanding to broader markets. What is sudden is the explosion of "diversity" in comic-book media, a poor attempt to grow and sell to more people. There's nothing spiritual about it, it's all capitalism.

Dunno what you are getting at.

Greek heroes were portrayed as more than human, only not divine because they were mortal. Think Achilles and Hercules.

Drama was derived from the dissonance between the power they held and their flawed human natures. This is, like, 80% of a super-hero story nowadays.

The point is that fucking greek heroes were greek heroes in a society that existed 2k years ago.
I am talking about a phonomena of cinema in contemporary society with all its issues.
The tensions and issues that made hero tales popular in antiquity are different to the ones we experience today.
I am talking about the reasons why capeshit is so popular now.
Its a symptom like greek heroe tales being popular were a symptom. But just because two symptoms are similar , it does not mean their causes are.
