Would Fascism work in the United States?

Wait until 2016 lol

Would fascism work in the Roman republic?
Bread and circuses, my friend.

>Fascists view World War I as having made liberal democracy obsolete, and regard total mobilization of society under a totalitarian single-party state as necessary to prepare a nation for armed conflict and to respond effectively to economic difficulties.
Reality is more complicated, but the results are similar.
>Such a state is led by a strong leader — such as a dictator and a martial government composed of the members of the governing fascist party — to forge national unity and maintain a stable and orderly society.
It's already halfway there.
>Fascism rejects assertions of violence automatically being negative in nature and views political violence, war, and imperialism as means that can achieve national rejuvenation.
Check
>Fascists advocate a mixed economy, with the principal goal of achieving autarky through protectionist and interventionist economic policies.

It already fulfills 2 of the 4 prerequisites with a "liberal democrat" in power.
Even discounting Trump, there's plenty of

It's been getting the US by so far
Fascism never works.
>>405981
If the people ask for it.
>>405981
its working at the moment
This is getting pretty /pol/, no one have any actual sources or actual for their claims to support them or are a political scientist?
>>406426
I know it sounds crazy but, believe it or not, anytime someone puts forward their opinion on something it's not automatically /pol/
>>406426
That isn't exclusive to /pol/ retard. On 4chan people don't generally provide an essay and bibliography for every question you ask. If you want something more in depth like that, go to reddit or read a book
>>405981
Like communism, there is no successful long term fascist regime. Every single attempt has ended in the destruction of the regime through war or rebellion. Better just to stick with liberal democracy tbqh
>>406435
I'm actually agree with what you're saying anon, but this part really got me.
>>406443
Memes aside, tons of qualified people across every subject post on reddit
>>406452
>Asks a hypothetical question
>Gets mad when opinions are given
Way to derail your own thread there
>>405981
Tbh theres already a semi-fascist state as firms work so closely with Government. The only issue US Fascism would have would be deciding on a Head of State as from what i gather you yanks like the idea of no one person ruling over all.
So for that reason I believe the US is as close as it will get to Fascism which isnt that far off
Better flag

Why are there 14 stars exactly?

I'm the OP. Don't know where this guy came from.

This is pretty meme. The United States, right now, could be considered a reformed capitalist (keynesian), federal republic that is democratic, fascist, and socialist.
>>406537
throw oligarcal In and that sum it up
No, most Americans value freedom too much to support fascism. And most who don't aren't fascists, but leftists or theocrats.

>It's already halfway there.
Wrong. Our country has an extensive system of checks & balances, it's nowhere near dictatorship. If every country with a head of state is halfway to fascist, then all of Europe is halfway to fascism too.

Wrong. America is not protectionist at all, we've embraced globalism.
It wouldnt work. Americans are scared of the rich as much as they are scared of their own government. There has to be a balance. Fascism is an extreme opposite of marxist socialism. But both are directly under he protection of their military. Fascism looks to privatize everything, proves better for the economy but not for society as a whole. Whereas marxist socialism wants everything public. They are supported by the moral esteem of the people to a great extent. I have never heard of a country that practices marxist socialism that isnt hungry. There has to be a balance. Fascism ended in public corruption whereas marxist socialism in military corruption; as for how we see the marxist nations public corruption...moral and ethical right.

Actually I'm the OP

>Fascism looks to privatize everything
Objectively incorrect. Stop posting about something you know nothing about.
