Is Mao Zedong one of the most underrated commanders of all time?
>>384406
No. He is vastly overrated due to lionising by the party.
>>384406
>underrated
Couldn't fight the nationalists on even ground.
His greatest achievement is not dying in the 30s.

>His greatest achievement is not dying
>sun yat sen decimated
>underrated
A billion people worships him. You can't say anything negative against him in fear of being executed or "re-educated" forcibly.
More like overrated.

>didn't he want to plunge the world into a nuclear third world war then repopulate it with Chinese and that's why theirs so many Chinese people
No, but he did expect a nuclear third world war and needed the Chinese to be able to rapidly repopulate.

>gain overwhelming popular support from masses
>seize country from dictator that did nothing but fuck shit up, forcing him to flee to a shitty island to be dictator of
>institute reforms that increases average lifespan by double, most people can read now, saw the last famine to hit China despite China being one of the most famine prone places in history with regular starvation because landlords hoarded food and sold it for profits
>radically decentralize authority and allow massive democratic reforms for people to seize their communities and criticize the bureaucratic and theocratic lords that kept the nation in semi-feudalism
>get deposed and get reinstated because nothing can stop you for real
>after you die, some shitbag counter-revolts and installs capitalist reforms
Bretty good indeed
You forgot that one time he showed that one emperor he wuz qingz and shit
>Is Mao Zedong one of the most underrated commanders of all time?
No, I think his achievements are well recognized by those who are aware of his exploits on more than a trivial level. Of course he was not the only general and of course his image today is inflated by propaganda, but as the figurehead of the CCP during the civil war he deserves credit and is recognized for it.
