Pic def not related, but Martin brings replies.

Aquinas was intelligent, if a bit misguided. Augustine is my personal favorite if only because he knew most of the Bible was bull even if he didn't want to believe it.

You're that passionate about what you DON'T believe, that you chose your personal favorite philosopher based on your shared DISbeliefs? Wot?

Augustine predates the medieval period by a thousand years...
>>
>>374715
He defined Christian morality and worldview, which defined peoples lives for the next 1000 years for better or for worse. I'd say that makes him rather important
>>374739
If you define the beginning of the Medieval period as after the Sack of Rome, Augustine lived almost 20 years after it took place.

But if he's disqualified, then William of Ockham

Wasn't he a heretic?

That wasn't what you said was your reason for choosing him you fool, and I never even said he wasn't important.

You literally said "if only...." followed by saying only because of your shared DISbeliefs

Damn your reading comprehension is shit and it pisses me off

Duns Scotus. He was probably the most innovative. Though the way Scholasticism worked was more like modern academic philosophy were everyone just has disputations and constantly tweaks each other's ideas. So for every Scotus you have another ten fairly unknown Philosophers who influenced him somewhere down the line. Still Scotus' concepts are still used in contemporary analytic philosophy to this day ( at least haecceity is), and really marked a major shift in western thought . The guy was insanely clever as well, though his prose isn't great.

I think people underrate how great of a logician Ockham was. The 14th century Scholastics really were intellectual powerhouses.
