Typologically, Sumerian is classified as an agglutinative split ergative language. Neither of those are Indo-European traits, so definite no to Indo-European. It was a language isolate most likely.

Not really, you're thinking of R1a.
The Middle Eastern subclades of R1b are pretty ancient and predate the Aryan invasion. And IIRC they are pretty widespread in Eastern Asia Minor, Mesopotamia and Transcaucasia (for example, R1b has a "plurality" in Armenia).
