I started but I'm worried about what it actually does.
I have terrible anxiety, it really holds me back but I also am a bit hyper at times, which I like. I'd hate for meditation to make me become some dulled zombie though.

Meditation is supposed to ground you in the present moment. Becoming a zombie is the complete antithesis of that, you're either doing it wrong or doing it right and just buggin'

There is no magic bullet for anxiety but a combination of meditation and cardiovascular exercise come pretty damn close.
Meditation is more than that. Have you never once thought "what happens when I peel away everything that isn't pure consciousness?"
