I assume that we're talking about their contribution to the analysis of the "social" and the possibility of a communist science?

Their negative reading of Lukacs on the role of ideology is pessimism of the will. Their belief that the proletariat was incapable of revolutionary action was based on a fundamental misreading of the 2nd International and Lenin in history, particularly on what the development of communist praxis is. Frankfurt misread this as the development of bourgeois style parties and movements (including Leninism). They lacked any understanding of the real history of working class movements, or of the manner in which workers self-organise, leading them to only see bourgeois ideological hegemony, rather than as Marx saw the constant development of struggle from the point of production.

This means that they produced bourgeois ideology.

From some of the people who've read them, their bourgeois ideology isn't that bad.

Personally, after reading Marcuse's "On Soviet Communism" (funded by the CIA btw), I abandoned them.

Also if you want to read an account of Soviet Communism, I'd recommend Ðilas or Kołakowski.

But obviously you were a bland fucking troll, fuck off to >>>/x/ with your conspiracy theories.

Is that Ron Paul in the background?

Shit.

If you're not a postmodernist then you can't be taken seriously.

Based.
They basically took over the notion of critique, and applied it to show capitalist and western society it's incosistencies, power structures, layers of oppression etc.
>>
>>31924
Leftism, through a critique of capitalist society.
But leftism is perceived as 'evil', 'wrong' or 'jewish' here on capitalismchan.

Aren't you being very disingenuous by ignoring the Frankfurt School's influence?
What do you have against Stormfags?
I mean, no one ever really acknowledges how Communism and the Bolsheviks were almost solely Jewish in origin, or how critical theory has shaped the thinking and teachings of university academia.
Whenever I see these tantrums without any refuting arguments I cannot help but wonder whether someone is hiding something.
I understand that the holocaust has made it easy to denounce anyone questioning or criticizing the Jews as an anti-semite, but in the end you give them carte blanche to do anything while failing to hold them up to the light.
If the Jews are as influential as they are perceived to be then they need to be open to criticism far more than they are now.

The finest critique and evaluation of the modern capitalist system. Truly demonstrates the way in which capitalism has failed and yet has been able to survive any major western revolution.
>>
>>32128
Capitalism survived because it incorporates the critique. It makes it part of itself and thus sustains capitalism > social democratism.
Capitalism is a powerful dominating famework that changes to exist. And that is precisely why there won't be a revolution, contrary to Marx his predictions. If Marx lived to see the ever changing capitalist system, he would have changed his predictions.

>If Marx lived to see the ever changing capitalist system, he would have changed his predictions.
He did, after the Paris Commune.
He did after 1848 with the "scientific" turn to "Late Marx" following Althusser's somewhat dodgy exegesis.

Maybe you should actually read about Marx's changing ideas before spouting off. Althusser is a good start. As is comparing German Ideology, Contribution to a Critique, and Capital 1.

I'm not a troll nor I am a /pol/tard. I just want to read opinions on the subject from /his/torians.

It's debatable as to whether it was the work of the most vested interests of capitalism that sought to incorporate the critiques or rather the efforts of the original social democrats who still saw socialism as the end goal (rather than welfare capitalism) but believed it could happen through reform. The initial social democrats did not want to change capitalism, they wanted to gradually get rid of it.

Capitalism has indeed been willing to adapt in order to survive, but more importantly it is the ideological hegemony that has allowed it to suffocate any form of opposition to it. People like Zizek have even gone on to argue now that the false class consciousness of the 19th and early 20th century has amalgamated itself now into a consciousness of apathy, we know that it's shit, but we can't think of anything better.

It's easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism it has been said.

On the subject of Marx, I don't really doubt that he would change his prediction, the Frankfurt School itself changed it.

Normally one starts a thread by contributing more than

Next time bother to show that you're not an arsehole and you won't be treated like one.
