Was Mussolini all that bad? The impression I get from him is that he was a decent leader, but gambled in allying with Germany expecting an easy war and ended up losing.
Aside from that, I can't really recall anything that bad about the guy. You never hear about Italian fascist execution squads or any persecution of minorities. He reigned for a fairly long time and it seems like Italy did quite well under his reign until they entered WWII.

yeah, but in terms of dictators, he wasnt that bad at all. No autistic purges or genocides, and no retarded invasions, until he just became hitlers bitch
>>1401948
I Concur. After Hitler's "Persuasion" he basically fucked Italy over. Italy would've been better off today had they not intervened in world war 2.
>>1401421
I wouldn't exactly say the Italians treated North Africans and Ethiopians like best buds.
He was shitty. When people say Mussolini was "good" they mean good compared to Hitler or they're from /pol/
Invading Ethiopia was probably the strategically stupidest thing anyone could have done in his position

>Italy would've been better off today had they not intervened in [insert war here]

>[country] would've been better off today had they not intervened in [war]
>>1402229
he was also good compared to tojo and stalin
>>1402229
Yeah, but why was he shitty
>>1402281
Even before WW2, he lost a third of the entire Italian army invading Ethiopia, which provided him with absolutely no advantages in terms of strategy or resources and basically destroyed Italy's international reputation.

Well it was good for him personally & his military bully underlings, so it worked out in that sense. It's funny (but horrible) how much fascists shriek about the value of their great nation but do not hesitate at all to toss away their countrymen and all their work to advance their own agendas. Were there any nationalist dictators who actually worked to improve their nation (regardless of their success at it) or were they all just opportunistic demagogues who used nationalism as a vehicle for their own rise to power?
>>1402300
Well, it was to regain a bit of respect from not being able to conquer them in the first place.
>>1402312
How about Polsucky or what was his name?
>>1402277
>murica
>WWII

Typical dictator's stuff, nepotism, dumbassery etc. Few instances of actual genocidal stuff(for example gas attacks in Ethiopia) but overall very incompetent.
>>1401421
He was born too early. If only Mussolini had access to helicopters.
>>1401421
Well, fascists were pretty harsh on ethiopians and lybians, and let's not forget that in the early days of the movement if you were suspected of being a socialist you were down for a good beating (in the best case scenario)
>inb4 there's nothing bad with murdering niggers and socialists
/pol/ is that way, we're talking about history
Probably he's retarded as "not so bad" because he wasn't that good at being a dictator. He got himself the favor of the masses but most of his power came from the abysmal stupidity first of all of the king and of the other political parties. We also all know about his poor decisions.
Let's not forget about this
>>1402300
>third of the entire army
niggerfaggot
>>1403178
There were 600,000 men in the Italian army at the start of the war and they suffered 200,000 casualties
Read Alberto Sbacchi, "The Price of Empire: Towards an Enumeration of Italian Casualties in Ethiopia 1935–1940"

Mussolini was literally worse than Hitler.
Hitler at least did some good in between slaughtering ethnic minorities and declaring war on his neighbours. Mussolini was just a non-stop shitshow for everyone.
>>1402278
Except Stalin did literally nothing wrong.
>he mains Mussolini
>>1403328
before WW2 started, he was extremely popular and well liked here in the US
>>1403414
kek at Shadow-fuhrer. Is that Mosley second from the bottom-left? This is HoI4 right?
