What went wrong?
>>
winter
>>
red army was bigger than wehrmacht and had burger support
also german supply lines were too long
>>
>>1386073
the front and supply lines get stretched as fuck -> blitzkrieg/schwerpunkt is completely ineffective and then simply the much bigger capabilities of the soviets+lendlease to put units on the field wins the war
>>
>>1386073
It started.
>>
>>1386073
Nazi Germany was weaker in every way than the USSR

nothing desu

Logistic and supply.
German failed at it.
>>
>>1386073
Germany was in no way ready to take on the Soviets. Hitler himself knew this but the Soviets would have entered the war anyway so he struck first

Stalingrad, if they don't waste so many resources and soldiers on that fucking city they may actually had a chance to take Moscow.

Of course even that wouldn't guarantee a victory, but still a lot more noteworthy achievement than slaughtering thousands of random slav villages for 3 years.

>they may actually had a chance to take Moscow.
And then what? They still need that Caspian oil.
>if they don't waste so many resources and soldiers on that fucking city
They would of wasted far more resources and men trying to take Moscow. The main reason why Op. Blau was so successful is because the Stavka believed that the main attack in the summer of 1942 would be in the centre.
>>
where to even begin:

>massive underestimation of Russian mechanized strength.

Hitler believed there were less than 2000 tanks and less than 8000 artillery pieces in the entire Red Army, little homework was done to measure the exact strength of Russia, or predict just how fast they can replace losses.

>piss poor supply logistics
Getting supplies to the German frontlines was a nightmare for the Wehrmacht, between navigating the bombed out roads and muddy bogs, this caused the Germans to run desperately short on ammunition, fuel, and clothing at the end of Barbarossa

>hold everything
The German policy of having soldiers capture/defend every inch of the front instead of concentrating their efforts on the main cities probably cost them the entire war.

>not insulating their mechanized divisions
By the time Winter came, the temperature dropped so low that gasoline froze, making nearly their entire mechanized corps unusable for months, hell, even the oil lubricant in their automatic weapons would freeze and cause an MP40 to jam, a problem the Mosin Nagant didn't have, being a bolt-action rifle.

>even the oil lubricant in their automatic weapons would freeze and cause an MP40 to jam, a problem the Mosin Nagant didn't have, being a bolt-action rifle.
why single this out?
or did soviet SMGs not suffer from this problem?
did the kar98 - the service weapon of the german forces - suffer from this problem, being a bolt action rifle?

>Hitler himself knew this but the Soviets would have entered the war anyway so he struck first
Well the striking first bit is correct, but he's recorded as saying that the Soviet union would collapse in the face of a large invasion.

> Soviets would have entered the war anyway so he struck first

Nobody takes your book seriously, Suvarov.
