It's rather childlike and taken very literally. Jesus is the literal son, not figurative, of God. Because it's taken so literally, there isn't much in the way of mysticism. It borrows more heavily from Masonry than other forms of Christianity.
Mormon theology sees YHWH as someone who became a god through following Mormonism, and got make his own creation. They see Jesus as a human who also became a god and got his own creation to lord over. Everyone who is a good Mormon can become a god and have their own creation, and women can marry such gods provided they marry them before they become gods, but if women fail to marry, they are SoL
