Greatest as in its most useful from a biological perspective? I would argue that it is persistence.

It's prudence. Haven't you read Aristotle? Without prudence you wouldn't have any other virtue.

That some people would do anything to survive and thrive.
It's not morally admirable. However from a practical, realist perspective it is a powerful trait.
