I've heard Stirner described as a 'systematic Nietzsche'.

Though, you have to remember Stirner is reacting against Hegelianism, where Nietzsche's work was more or less a response to Schopenhauer's philosophy (not that Nietzsche hadn't read Hegel.. but still) and Christianity.

I've only skimmed through the Ego and Its Own because I haven't even gotten to Hegel yet. I'm stuck at Kant lol.

Evola is one of the fews of the 20th century who is not a meme.
He is everything that is anti-reddit. He is the antithesis of plebness himself.

He was the degenerate marxist hippy weedman of the Antiquity along with Jesus of Nazaret.

Nice to hear.
Why don't you consider them proper stoics? Who is proper in your opinion?

Aurelius is a strange case, I agree, as he wrote "Meditations" as a diary rather than an enlightening book for the people. It is a blessing though that his writings have survived completely unchanged and we can read them 2 millenia later.

Reminder that Nietzsche was right about literally everything
>>
>>1305056
Because he's pretty much Nietzsche minus the antisemitism, plus a good bit of depression.

And I suppose a lot of people who just started getting into philosophy read his books.

It's not like they'll understand him or anything. One must read a good amount of philosophy to even understand what he's going on about.

The Myth of Sisyphus was one of the first philosophy books I read.

4chan doesn't like newbies.
>>
>>1305090
It just seems like contrarianism because indeed, Camus is one of the first authors people reach for when they become interested in philosophical fiction. But fuck, is that such a bad thing? That Camus is a staple in the genre?
>>

Nietzsche's last words were "Mother - I'm stupid"

>>1305106
He was right about the worship of science to replace God, he was right about the exhausting focus on utility, he was right about the spread of christian values under a secular veneer (social democracy and the like). The man was a prophet and the concepts of Apollonian and Dionysian are brilliant. But you have to have an appreciation for aesthetics to really "get" him I think. Maybe smoke some weed.

Also it's not really fair to judge him by his letters later in life since he came down with a nasty case of brain cancer.

Also maybe people should start off at slave vs master morality regarding Nietzsche, I think it is the easiest to understand out of his tenets. I'm saying what someone would typically consider a millenial is the complete antithesis to Evola's intended audience. Especially the strawman you quoted. He'd laugh at such a shallow grasp of his ideas, at least one that doesn't goad one into action.
>>
>>1305389
His popularity is mostly among disaffected eightchanners and the like. Really far from the typical millennial, and his anti-democratic, anti-modern, and anti-liberal views are tantamount to heresy with the secular youth.

For the record I don't like him. He's way too wacky.
>>

Yeah fair enough. I just didn't see "smug millennial" as equating to "contemporary, liberal urban youths." You can, like you said, be a disaffected eightchanner and still fit the definition of "smug millennial."

>what is life-denying
I would argue that it is "master" mentality (if you want to use the dichotomy) that is life-denying, inasmuch as that it denies others' lives before your own. If your morality is based upon your own personal fulfilment at the expense of the well being (and even life if taken to its logical extreme) of other beings, then it is a corrupt morality that willfully ignores the reality of suffering.

>and celebrates strength in the face of adversity
Au contraire. I will not deny that, on one level, "master" morality provides the strength to enforce one's will onto the chaotic nature of the external world, but it takes even greater force of will to not only recognise your biases, but to accept and overcome them. Enforced will onto others means NOTHING if it is not coming from a position of absolute certainty in the benevolence of your actions - something that I'd posit the famous "master" moralists of history lacked.

Actually if you agree with him you should probably think that he is an idiot.
>>
Seriously, why do people even think Evola is brilliant? Never read him but just reading his wikipedia page here are the kinds of concepts and thoughts I see:
"solar masculinity" versus "chthonic masculinity" (Wot?)
"natural heroic rights"
"Divine kings"
"sexual magic"
"spiritual anti-materialist value of war"

And then there's this fucking gem:
"In Revolt, he expounds according to the ancient texts that there is not one tradition, but two: an older and degenerate tradition that is feminine, matriarchal, unheroic, associated with the telluric negroid racial remnants of Lemuria; and a higher one that is masculine, heroic, "Uranian" and purely Aryo-Hyperborean in its origin."

Okay, I can see how some piss-finished retards in 4chan might like that kind of crap but that does NOT how you make good philosophy.
>>
That does not how you make good philosophy indeed... Fuck me. Still, I'd actually be curious. Is he supposed to be good because of his systematic brilliance? Because his concept hint at some truth? Is he just a racist spiritualist which is why some of you love him?

>>1315822
