Well, he gained power in Iran in the first place through violence.
What the CIA did was coerce the Iranian monarchy to dismiss him from government and bring in a more western friendly guy, the Shah.
Ironically, the Shia clerics that helped to end Mossedeghs rule were the same ones that unseated the Shah, and now whine about US imperialism.

pump your brakes, Kid. Iran's oil rights basically all got sold to the Anglo-Iranian Oil Co.after the coup. The people didn't see a fucking dime. Poverty became a hotbed for fundamentalism in conjunction with the Shah's brutally repressive tactics to control the population. All that wonderful torture and misery was done by the Shah's secret police the SAVAK, CIA trained nailpullers, many of whom became intelligence in Revolutionary guard after '79. So I agree with the above, that if the coup never went down, Iranians would probably hate the west a fuck of a lot less.

He was elected PM by the Majlis (parliament) and his party had enough popular support that the Shah was forced to appoint him PM to avoid demonstrations.
He was a commie with absolute shit management skills.
He is literally a meme answer to Iran's problem. Their are far more things that affected the country. Plus the oil contract was going to be naturally up for negotiations after a few years. But this guy comes along with no regard for international treaties or contracts and messes up an important issue through violence.
Also do people not realize that the shah was in power before the Cia coup? People act like before the coup, Iran was a complete democracy. The USA only returned him after the country was being hijacked. Something they should have done during the revolution also.
