What are the best books on the ancient world?
They must be written in a way that doesn't make me want to claw my eyes out (i.e. not academic text books).
Books on areas other than Ancient Rome/Greece particularly welcome (anyone have any good books on Ancient Asia?).
Why don't you just read the original sources faggot? Start with some basic Tacitus.
Cleomades et Claremonde, aka Le Cheval de Fust.

I think OP is looking for books about history though
Read the Greek and Roman historians, they're great.

To add to this, can you lads recommend books about ancient people going to foreign lands and tripping out about the weird (relative to them) stuff that they see?
