Yes, because the Ming would have handled the situation SOOO much better than the Qing. There were some fuck ups that the Manchus did, but would it have changed anything in the long run about how China gets shafted by the rest of the world?

Honestly, how many nations in the world at the time COULD have stood up to the British Navy in a conflict like the First Opium War?

France, the United States perhaps. I don't know the state of the Iberian Navy, but that's about it. Who else was fielding iron steamships in large numbers?

The Ming just managed to stop the bleeding, but they were never able to reach the heights of the Song.

Qing were dealt a shitty hand.
