What the fuck was their problem? Were they the SJWs of the Antebellum era? How big of a role did they play in instigating the Civil War?
>>1209894
Their 'problem' was that they took Jesus' message seriously.
>>1209901
So Protestant autism as usual?
>>1209901
>Jesus' message seriously.
Which message was that? He said a lot of things to different people, some of which was contradictory. Also Jesus never talked about overthrowing government-backed institutions.
>>1209901
The only verse against slave holding was sending an escaped slave back to his owner.
Autism, probably.

They were SJWs in the sense that everyone hated them, even other anti-slavery whites, and that they were completely ineffective in effecting change. Slavery was ended with guns and bullets, not with moral suasion.
>>1212372
You really can't have one without the other.
>>1212374
Actually, you can. The mainstream Republicans objected to slavery not because they considered black slaves as equal human beings but because they feared that the expansion of slavery into western territories would undermine their ability to have farms and industries worked by free labor in that part of the continent. Moral issues had little to do with their concern regarding the expansion of the institution of slavery, they were concerned about the effect it would have on their status as free white men.

Explain.

>Were they the SJWs of the Antebellum era?
Whats with this meme of asking if (insert historical group here) were SJWs? It comes off similar to "X was just like Hitler or was/is a fascist because of (insert vague similarities here)" type arguments.
>>1212372
>abolitionists didn't use guns and bullets.
Go back to middle school.
