>Listening to Meditations by Marcus Aurelius
>he talks about temperance and not letting your passions take control of you
>Dad walks in
>Hey anon I need help can you turn that off?
>Get super pissed
>NO I CANT BUT I CAN MUTE IT
>O-ok Anon I just need some help
>Dad leaves
I have failed you Marcus.
>Complete lack of filial piety
I'm going to go download photoshop and make a collage of disappointed Hellenes, Chinese and all the other respectable ancient cultures that would be indignent at this bullshit.
You've failed yourself. Don't even pretend that you actually feel any kind of loyalty to that dead Emperor who pretended to be a philosopher.

Look. Everyone fails. You pick yourself up, dust yourself off, apologize to your dad, and carry on.

>any kind of loyalty to that dead Emperor who pretended to be a philosopher
Marcus Aurelius most likely didn't consider himself a philosopher, but a student of philosophy.
If someone asked him for tips on studying philosophy and on how to become a better person, he would likely advise that person on reading Epictetus' Discourses.

Or you could...

And yet he wrote a book that plebs consider to be *the* handbook for Stoicism. He pretended to be a philosopher, even if he wouldn't have called himself one when asked.
It's even less stoic of you to be lamenting the fact you failed. Go offer to help your father, and if he no longer needs your help, apologize for acting in such a fashion. Meditate on this experience and try to be better. Just remind yourself that you can be better.

It's an important book on Stoicism since it gives insights on how the philosophy can be used in practice. Quit shitposting like some manner of deranged child.

He didn't write the books for others.
