Well my military experience involved training every day in some form or another. There's plenty of ancient records talking about how important it is to keep soldiers busy, and the Romans, known for their discipline, would not have left their soldiers simply idle. These are people who had to build an entire fortress every single night while on the march.
With some training and discipline they'd possibly make pretty great soldiers. They're all on average much taller and heavier then your average Roman, so if they can pass the same training as Romans then they'd be better then any other green legion.
