What mythology / legend / folklore do you think has been most thoroughly raped by modernity?
I'm gonna say Arthurian legend, pic related is my reasoning.
Norse mythology by far.
Santa Claus, or maybe Christianity

Johnny Appleseed has taken a beating in the last decade or so, with claims that the apple trees he planted were to make hard cider.
The thought that oral folklores could get somehow raped is amusing to me.
Norse Mythology isn't even given basic the same amount of reverence that Greek mythology is given.

Buddhist, i guess.
Not really "raped" but the Greek Gods are often portrayed as heroic in a lot of media, despite the fact that they were a bunch of petty assholes at best and murderous rapists at worst.

This. Fate series is conplete shit

Norse by far

It's because of a shift in the meaning of "hero" from those days. In that time heroic wasn't virtuous so much as simply bad ass.

>made up bullshit
>raped
Stop. It's a story that isn't static and can be changed depending on how a particular people want to interpret it, and even then what does it matter considering you can still enjoy the "original?"

Agreed :)
