T bh Reagan wasn't a super bright guy. He was a great communicator and his anti commie sentiments helped us oversee the fall of the Soviet empire, but his policies weren't the best. I've heard that he always thought the good guys win but once he saw a film where everyone dies in the event of a nuclear holocaust. Apparently this caused him to be depressed for three days.

lol, I was reading memoirs of some of his staffers and the only way they could communicate a policy principle to him was to show him a movie with that as a theme. His staffers showed him that film on purpose because they couldn't get him to think about diplomatic communication w/ soviets and wanted to scare him into it.
