I really like the Kaiserreich mod for the hearts of iron series. For those not familiar with it there is a huge wiki that has a detailed history.
I however do not like several decisions the mod makers have made. Some of them were made to have a certain powerbalance and others i can't explain. I would like to hear the input of /his/ to create a better scenario. Post what disturbs you about the scenario and what you would change. I will post my suggestions later on when i can use my computer.

The basis for the mod is that the central powers win WW1 thus world history takes a completly different path. The mod tries to create a more interesting gameplay for hearts of iron so some decisions are not even close to realism. I would be interested in making the scenario more realistic.
Things that bugged me the most :
- GB falling to syndicalism ( the Kaiserreich timelines revolutionary leftist ideology) In my oppinion GB either would become rightwing reactionary trying to hold together its vast empire after a disastrous WW1 or abolish imperialism and electing a labour government.
- France also becomes syndicalist in TTL and is some sort of left wing 3rd reich. This bugs me because i don´t think a victorious kaissereich would have allowed this. Even if we accept this premise the Commune of France is ridiciously overpowered.
- The germans are deadbeat conservative and miss all the military innovations after beeing victorious in WW1, similiar to france in OTL. I think this is unrealistic given the nature of the german military. Even in WW1 they were very innovative and i don´t think they would have made the mistakes france did after winning WW1(at least not to the same extent, especially because WW1 was way more disastrous for france).
-The second american civil war: I like the civil war but i am not sure there is a way to implement an even vaguely realistic one.
- I like russia as a weak republic but i think the whole storyline should be refined.
I like the general idea of KR, but absolutely hate the execution. The changes are just way too zany, out of this world, crazy, unbelievable, syndicailsm etc. everywhere.

Maybe it makes more sense to start from the scratch but i don´t think everything kaiserreich did was wrong ( but most of it is alien space bats territory i have to admit that).
How would you go about making some territories independent, like for example, Austro-Hungarian Empire releasing Croatia

Would be a god start i guess. I don´t think A-H should be existent at all in 1936. Even if they win WW1 there is no way in hell this rotten and anachronistic state will exist so long ( at least without MAJOR reforms). I think a strong kingdom of hungary and a austria incorporated in the reich (Großdeutschelösung) are far more likely. Independent nations like croatia would be in the german sphere of economic domination and influence imho.

The Mitteleuropa part (German satelites in Eastern Europe, independent Poland, AH being kept floating by Germany) is pretty realistic, mostly in line with the postwar German plans. Not sure about Syndicalist Western Europe, but desu nobody saw irl Germany going Nazi in 1919 either, so why couldn't France get taken over by a crazy new revanchist movement of Robespierre-wannabes?
I find the Asian theatre completely unrealistic though. I doubt that a war-weary Germany could overthrow the Chinese republic, reinstall Pu Yi and take over the southern half of China. Japan was fighting at much better odds (they didn't need to cross half the world to supply their troops and had a strong base already in Manchuria) in 1937 and even they couldn't achive anything near that.
I also doubt that the Entente losing would cause the USA to get so messed up, especially if they didn't even take part in the war.

I don´t think A-H could have been able to continue existing. The state was simply too messed up even with german support the ethnic and nationalist tendencies were simply too much especially after a drawn out and exhausting war.
Germany didn´t go full on Nazi in 1939. On the contrary they faced strong reactionary factions fighting the state and strong socilaist factions fighting the state. The republic was actually able to stabilize itself and only the shattered left ( communists hated social democrats as much as they hated the nazis) and the economic crisis allowed for the machtergreifung. I simply don´t think that it is feasible that france would have turned socialist ( in a civil war) after the even more drawn out WW1 of TTL. Maybe a syndicalist revolution in the late 20s is something i could accept but even then : Why should germany let this happen ? And that GB turns syndicalist is simply outlandish.
I agree with you about the USA ( i would like to see a civil war in the US but i see no realisitc way of one happening though) and Asia. In Asia i would suggest that Japan is way more powerful and dominates large parts of Asia because most of the western powers don´t have the capacity and/or will to stop their expansion.

I think the story is that AH went through a second compromise, where all constituents got more rights. Even then, it's barely holding on, it only exists because of German support, and can easily fall apart.

Also i seriously think that influential groups in germany would be pushing hard for the Anschluss of Austria instead of wasting ressources on a state thats clearly not able to function without life support. It would be easier to simply grant the slavs independence and set them up as puppet/allied kingdoms in some sort of german economic sphere of influence.

Supposedly they won a pyrrhic victory (just like irle France) in WW1 and intervened in Russia, so they didn't have the capacity to do the same in France. Another reason Germany having a wast colonial empire in Asia and Africa makes no sense, in one moment, they are still recovering from the great war, in another, they are a superpower with global power-projecting capebilities.

I think a more realistic approach would be to let russia fall prey to an extremist revolution and let germany intervene in france. Germany should be a strong continental power that recovered from the war and is economically booming. This whole part about the german economic crisis makes no sense at this point in time instead germany should have a stable economy that profits from the post-war recovery of europe (no heavy american investments to begin with, so rebuilding is slower).
For the colonies i would aim for more independent colonies organized as true free states supported by germany but often still ruled by the colonial elite before the war. Also the whole busniess in Asia is simply bullshit and in no way feasible.

Then please elaborate how A-H was going to solve all of its problems in the weakened state it was in after 1921 victory in this TTL. Do they start grand purges to stop the growing nationalists ? I accept that a victory might buy them some time but nothing short of a danubian federation (for which i deem the elites as way to reactionary) would have pacified them in the long run and just look at the perestroika, i think trying to form a danubian federation would have had a similiar outcome.
