It wasn't that long ago that most hentai sites were small and tended to focus on a particular niche or genre. E-hentai/exhentai was the first really big aggregator site (though it didn't start that way, the E in E-hentai was for Eva). I suspect a lot of the people using exhentai have been doing so since it was the easiest place to reliably find whatever you want. There may be alternatives now, but why would I bother checking them out when exhentai has 100% of what I want 100% of the time?

I'm using the same years long acc since always but I'm aware that Tenboro raised a restriction that recently created ones need to wait for a couple of days (roughly a week) before having their cookies authenticated to the exhentai. That might or might not be your case but either way there is no third party plugin with capabilities to do this kind of authentication unless it actually exploits flaws in the sites.
