I figured this might be the best place for this, but correct me if I'm wrong.
As we all know, Puruin died.
I want to make a replacement.
Now, I know that's a bold statement to make, but hear me out.
I'm currently in the middle of building my own server from scratch, and think the experience in building a complex site with a database would be a good way to learn and get experience.
While I don't expect to rival something like Sadpanda or Pururin,and probably won't be able to with my starting infrastructure, I still do want to persue this as an end-goal of my server project.
This brings me to the reason for this thread- what kind of elements do you guys look for, or would want, in a mongolian daguerrotype smut site?
What way would you like to see contribution handled, through a private tracker-escque points sytem like Sadpanda, or a trusted contributor system like Pururin?
Would you guys use a site even if it only hosted English fan-translated content?
How much do you care about site style? Is a plain but practical system like Sadpanda better, or something with a bit of flair like Pururin?
Basically, what would be your guys' idea of a perfect animu porn site.
I appreciate any feedback that can be given.
I loved everything about Pururin and want it back. But a clone of the site would be the next best thing.

Not a direct clone, but more of a "fork".
I plan to add new features and change others.
Surely there's something people wanted to see changed about Pururin?
The reason i used Pururin was for the favorits, I would like it to contain all of the sad panda mangas if possible but I would like an good easy manga viewer that could load the whole manga at once, a easy acsess bookmark and favorite option.

How would you guys feel about Favorites "Folders" or "Playlists"?
As in having the ability to group favorites together into specific groupings. That way you can keep certain tags together, or even align favorites based off of some personal convention or theme.

Learning experience and the opportunity to make a site which has everything which I specifically like.
Also, filling a gap is not necessarily being an "opportunist". A lot of people are saddened by the loss and want to plug the game.
Even if that gap is filled, I still want to embark on this project myself.
Basically, the only thing more I wanted from Pururin was a way to search multiple tags, and a way to organize or search through favorites.
Make it possible to search for multiple tags at once rather than just one at a time

I don't think I'd ever use Folders/Playlists but I would use Tiered Favorites. As in having several different favorite types.
Something like:
"Favorites"
"Super Favorites"
"Ultra Favorites"
I think we need to differentiate who the perspective character is in the tags. for example:
Perspective:boy,BBC,etc
Tags:incest,,BBC,Traps,anal,lolli,etc
I mean, porn from the girls perspective, and porn from the boys perspective is very different. This is also true for many fetishes such as Traps or Genderbend, where it makes almost as much of a difference.

Definiatly build your system around tags. It was allways super annoying to search vor tags on pururin. Just show the god damn tags along with the teaser image on the front page and every where else. It allways annoyed the fuck out of me how you needed to click on everything on pururin to see them, especially because it was slow as fuck. And please allow multi tag searching. Also, when searching, impose some kind of order. When you wanted to re-find something on pururin, it could take you ages because the results were reordered everytime something was added that would match your search.

this. Can't really think of a circumstance I would have needed that, but that could come in handy.
When adding something like "folders" or "playlists", maybe allow for annonymous ones. I never bothered to make an account, but I would have loved a way to save favorites or make collections anyways. If you have an adress scheme with simple IDs for mangas, letting users create annonymous lists doesn't take up much space as it could just be an array of IDs, so it wouldn't matter much if lots were created. Just let them be currated via some generated pw or something and when they sit too long without being viewed or currated, delete them, but increase their lifetime the more they have been around.
Also, make sure to add as many tags as possible as early as possible. Things like 'Identity Death' where missing on Purinrin, and it only made it harder for people who both wanted more, and people who wanted to not see it.
These things are harder to add the later you try to add them. so the most the sooner, the better.
