Are there any good references or guides for learning how to do tribal patterns?
I want to get into doing tribal patterns for logos n such but i have a hard time understanding the logic behind them.
Eh, one kinda sorta thing is study up on nature, look for patterns and junk. The swoops and swirls and whatnot. Try mirroring/spirographing the swoops and swirls to get those interesting effects.
I don't really do a whole lot with those but I had a lot of luck just sketching out a design in photoshop, making a mirror line, and then flipping it over on a side, selecting smaller shapes and mirroring around, etc.
No clue if that's actually what you're supposed to do or not.

Well, there's Tapout style bro tribal, a bunch of meaningless swirly pointy shit, usually surrounding a cross or a skull and placed prominently on the front of Guy Fieri's shirt.
Then there's actual tribal patterns, by actual, you know, tribes.
Study up on art and tattooing by the Maori, ancient Inuit and Norse, etc. Fuck, it's right in the word "tribal", this shit isn't hard.

Also tribal patterns for logos is a stupid, stupid idea, unless you're doing branding for a line of too-tight T shirts sponsored by Axe Body Spray and sweetchainwallets dot biz.
