Didn't see a WIP thread, so I'll put them here. I work primarily in 3D (salary and errything) but I like to do some design work. Hopefully some day I'll combine the two effectively.

Might be a stupid question, but what is a mockup in terms of graphic design? Does it mean it's not for an actual client?

depends on the context.
Client work - could be that the design is visualised as close as possible to looking like a real thing. E.g. you design a business card, then make a presentation image that makes it look like an actual card on a table
For personal work, I loosely use the term for stuff that looks the part, but doesn't necessarily fit the right metrics, format, etc
