If you've ever played a NES with composite you would almost immediately notice the horrible composite dot crawl, washed colors and color bleeding. The NES has one of the worst composite encoders ever made. There's a reason people drop hundreds of dollars to cram an HDMI connector in a 30 year old console.

I used the composite cable for about a year with my ps3 before I discovered that it had HDMI. I honestly didn't understand why blu ray was a thing. My d2500 has 1GB ram anon, and it's running Ubuntu mate just fine.
There are better lightweight distros out there, like slitaz or lubuntu.
