sup /fit/,

24yo male here who's been dealing with some mild/moderate acne for the past 6 years, not to the extent of pic related but breakouts include large pus-filled pimples and blotchy red skin on a weekly basis.

Any of you guys taking roaccutane (or whatever the yank equivalent is?) I am concerned about the side effects but i figured some advice from people actually taking might be the drive i need to actually start taking it.

>how sensitive is your skin to sunlight?
>how dry did your eyes/lips/nose get? does moisturising cure that completely?
>how bad was the initial breakout once you started?
>how is your skin now?
>scarring?
>>

bump cos same boat here op.
>>
>>34850150
Why woul you ever take a poison like roaccutane?

Acne is a distress signal from the body somethings wrong, chances are it's your diet.

You need to fix the cause, not battle the consequences.

thx m8, not much love so far

>>34850312
I'd love to hear some suggestions mane, here is what i have tried so far
>cut dairy, sugar, gluten and processed fats from my diet for a period of 3 months, no change
>wash my face twice a day with a pore cleanser and a 'gentle' anti-acne facewash
>sleep on a fresh towel every night
>do not touch my face without thoroughly washing my hands
>>
>>34850312
You are such a fucking idiot. I also know you are quoting Elliot. Just fuck off and speak on topics you know nothing about.
>>
>>34850408
Thanks for your intelligent input. I'm not quoting Elliot, I just put into a post what I've come to believe based on my own experience and actually using my brain once in a while.

sup op.

I had the worst acne problem roughly 5 years ago. I tried legit fucking everything, ate well, played sport etc, wasn't fat. still had the shittest case of acne ever. Roaccutane changed my life. It does get worse before it gets better, but that lasted maybe 2-3 weeks before it started working like a treat. My skin is pretty sensitive to sunlight, and the only places I was really completely dry/crackly were my lips - I had to carry around lip balm with me and apply it maybe 4-5 times a day, but it was nothing I couldn't handle. After 6 months my skin went from being horrendous to not having one pimple on it. Not fucking one. It's been 5 years now and apart from the odd one or two small ones, my skin has been amazing and I get complimented several times about how clear my skin is. If you look REALLY closely there's some small little white scars I guess you can call them on my face where a few big ones were, but they are really hard to notice unless you knew they were there previously. Seriously OP, try it and you will not regret it.

Absolute horseshit
>>
I just started accutane because nothing else was working for me. Shitty genetics and started too late because I'm scarred to fuck now. Actually improved the 1st few days but got really red I think I got sunburned but was only in the sun for maybe 20 minutes. Lips and face have been getting more dry every day except this day it has gotten way worse. My face has gotten a bit worse now although I'm not sure if it's what I've been applying to my face for moisturizing or not. No real joint pain yet and I'm not sure if placebo effect but I feel like I am recovering slower out of the gym.

>Be 17, terrible acne like pic related
>Go to GP for unrelated issue, he asks me what I'm doing about my acne and prescribes Accutane
>Start going to the gym and sunbathing, skin clears up a treat
>in great shape, handsome, finally get confident, end up with gf. Life is good
>Start playing WoW, get lazy, stop going gym, GF dumps me
>Put on 120 lbs from being a lazy sack of shit
>Agressively start balding in my early 20s. Now have a horseshoe pattern on hair on my head
>Now 22 years old, 300lb and balding
>Still living at home and working in asda

At least I tasted the good life
>>
>>34850349
yep, i've been trying all of these (but my diet still sucks, working on it)

fresh towel doesn't seem to do shit
washing my face doesn't seem to do shit
etc

what else can a man do?
>>
>>34850349
You should cut out processed fats and sugar from your diet regardless of acne mate!

I would like to give it a shot and try to help. I'm not medical expert but imo anyone who would prescribe roaccutane isn't either.

Disclaimer: I have no personal experience with roaccutane or any other hardcore acne treatment. I believe any and every thing that is wrong with the body can be healed from within.

First of all, and I am going to get a lot of hate for this, stop washing your face so often. It only exhausts your skin and depletes it from it's natural oils, making it harder for the body to 'repair' acne.

In line with this, stop using any and all shower gels, shampoos and moisturizers. You don't need them. You've been condtioned to think you need soap in order to reach a clean body, but you don't. Just shower with water.

No creams, gels, shampoos, sunblocks, foundation, oils and all that bullshit. For the love of god. Like when ones skin is dry, most people would immediately think to apply moisturizer, but thats so fucking wrong. Do not battle the consequences, target the cause. Not a single person on this earth needs a moisturizer. Ever.

If you're still with me, and chances are you're not, answer me the following.

>where do the breakouts occur on your body? Be detailed
>what would you typically eat in a week? Like all the good and all the bad stuff
>do you often get whiteheads?
>are you on medication of any kind or are you on gear?
>>
>>34850506
Life is cruel. Accutane could have had a hand in your hair loss. Have you tried finasteride/ minoxidil?
>>
>>34850312
so much bullshit, ive been to dr's who totally discount diet has anything to do with it (see unhealthy fat cunts growing up, not one spot) and put it straight down to genetics.
>>
>>34850457
>>34850465

So bitter. I hope you find ways to improve yourself bruv
>>
>>34850519
Thanks for pointing out you've visited some retarded doctors in your life but I don't see how that justifies calling my post bullshit
>>
>>34850441
how difficult was getting the prescription? im having trouble convincing doc i need it, even though ive NEVER had clear skin since around 15, im 21 now
>>
>>34850532
I think i'd take their view, which actually makes sense over some pseudo intellectual autist sprouting bullshit he heard from his mother
>>
>>34850555
Okay man I take my clean ass perfect skin anyday over yours.
>>
>>34850532
I'd sooner listen to dermatologists and specialists in their field than some rambling idiot on the internet

>"Acne is caused by a poor diet." So far, research has not found any foods that cause acne. Eating a healthy, balanced diet is recommended because it is good for your heart and your health in general.

>"Acne is caused by having dirty skin and poor hygiene." Most of the biological reactions that trigger acne occur beneath the skin, not on the surface, so the cleanliness of your skin will have no effect on your acne. Washing your face more than twice a day could just aggravate your skin.

>Playing WoW

There's your problem you stupid faggot
>>
>>34850312
Listen to this guy

I cured my acne with a combination of activated almonds and cutting out twinkies
>>
>>34850601
Just because research hasnt provided a link between diet and acne, doesn't mean a link doesn't exist.

Also we seem to be on the same page regarding washing your face so I don't know why you're bringing that up.
>>
>>34850312
There has not been an established link between nutrition and acne.
However, genetics determine how much sebum is
naturally produced by your glands associated with your hair follicles.
Your hormone levels (Androgen...) determine this as well.

Read up on Retinoids OP.
>>
>>34850571
lol you just got ruined faggot
>>
>>34850635
>genetics

It's almost 2016 mate time to read up on epigenetics
>>
>>34850632
There's likely some link between acne and diet. However, OP going out and making changes to his diet and lifestyle will have a negligible effect. If he wants to see any significant changes he needs medications.
>>
>>34850663
It hurts me so much when people actually believe this. The only medication anyone ever needs is healthy food, proper hydration and clean air. And a positive mind.

This hippie is signing off
>>
>>34850681
and a genetic code altering machine while we're at it, faggot just understand some people are just prone to shit skin and sometimes only harsh medication can 'cure' it
>>
Diets are useless if it's genetic, I tried everything for years and they did shit. If you have moderate cystic acne diets won't help.

I finished my accutane treatment like 2 years ago and I'm more than pleased with the results. My face was far, far worse than the dude's pic in the OP, I had like 4 new cystic pimples the size of the fucking moon EVERY SINGLE DAY and they lasted for weeks, horrible pain, my face was a disaster.

Now my face has just a couple normal pimples that appear like once a week and dissapear in less than a day, I'm finally a normal human being instead of an abomination.

It's true that it gets worse the first few weeks and you sometimes get a breakout or two when you stop taking it, but after that it doesn't happen again, at least in my case.

About side effects, my nose gets dry pretty often and I have to moisturize it but apart from that I haven't noticed anything else. During treatment it was worse but nothing serious.

The last month was a fucking nightmare though because I fucked up and I took double the recommended dose of accutane to finish that shit fast because I'm an impatient faggot. My skin got dry as fuck, I could barely sit straight because my spine felt like it was going to break in half, my eyes were red, etc. I assume that most of the problems people have with accutane are caused by taking the wrong dose of it, if you end up using it and suffer side effects you should probably take a reduced dose.
It will take more time but at least you won't be suffering like a faggot for months and end up balding. You may need a second
treatment if you don't take enough though.

Same with cancer, right?
Just need some good ol' elbow grease, proper meals and some good wholesome air; that'll do the trick.

Want to fix your acne? Wash your face more. Genetics mean nothing.

Want to fix your down syndrome? Read a book or two. Get some education in you.
srs though you sound like some retard babyboomer. Promptly kill yourself.
>>
>>34850699
Don't you understand you sound just as retarded as fatties blaming their fat on genetics?
>>
>>34850735
So, to answer the questions:

>how sensitive is your skin to sunlight?
It's very sensitive but my skin has always been like this, I'm white as snow.

>how dry did your eyes/lips/nose get? does moisturising cure that completely?
Eyes, lips and specially nose were bad during treatment, I had to use a moisturizer like thrice a day but it only got really horrible when I fucked up my dosage the last few weeks. Now my eyes are fine, my lips are a little dry.

>how bad was the initial breakout once you started?
Not very bad but it was noticeable.

>how is your skin now?
Bretty good, sometimes a couple pimples appear but they dissapear fast, I don't get giant cysts on my face anymore. Before I
started the treatment my skin was really oily, now it's a lot better.

>scarring?
My face has a lot of scars but it was far worse before, I had awful acne for a decade before I decided to do something about it. The skin starts to clear a few months after finishing the treatment and it gets better from then on.

English isn't my first language so sorry for derp writing.
>>
>>34850740
Same with cancer, yes.

In my humble opinion it is absolutely batshit retarded to battle cancer with radiation and chemo.

Almost any cancer can be cured from within.
>>
>>34850735
>tfw pop a cystic zit and I can literally hear it burst.
>blood fucking everywhere.
>literally squirts out.

It's a good/bad feel.

I'm getting it under control now with accutane, but these faggots would have you believe you can cure every disease on earth with lifting and a paleo diet.
>>
>>34850759
>This is the type of person who lifts weights.

If you would be so kind to grace humanity with your knowledge, publish your claims and claim that Nobel prize cash award and your name in the history books.
>>
>>34850747
i knew you would say that kek, but theres a difference between eating and getting fat with inactivity then blaming it on genetics, rather than for example rampant sebum production compared to someone with low sebum production due to differing genetics
