Retard friend has made a homemade preworkout drink which he swears by, I asked him what's in it and he told me
>4 pro plus tablets (200MG caffeine)
>100g dextrose
>1 scoop instant coffee beans (wut)
>1 can of monster energy (lol)
What is this idiocy and is he gonna die?
>>37952214
this probably won't kill him if he's young and healthy
he'll develop a fucking mean caffeine addiction/dependency though, he'll be grouchy whenever he doesn't get his pills
he'll build tolerance very quickly too
no chance he's already taking this every day?
He's already dead.
>>37952214
oh and he'll probably get the beetus (entirely possible without getting fat)
>>37952214
you'll be zippin around all over the place with zippy water
>>37952214
>dextrose in pre-workout
>not post-workout
???
There's only 35-50mg of caffeine in a can of monster.
Assuming he gets about 70mg out of the coffee beans (that would assume he uses quite a lot of them) he's still only at 300-320mg of caffeine.
The average person consumes 400-500mg a day.

Goddamn, I thought OP meant those tablets were 200mg each--which is getting pretty close to a dangerous dose.
>The average person consumes 400-500mg a day.
More like 250mg in the US, although that's still more than I would have expected.
OP, the American College of Sports Medicine, not exactly a pack of gonzo up-the-dose renegades, suggests 3-9 mg caffeine/kg bodyweight for a performance-enhancing dose. Don't be a phaggot.

9 mg per kg. I'm 6'5" and 110 kg. If I were to take 9x110 = 990 mg cafein.. I'm already shaking and getting light headed on working out at 200 mg.
4/10 bait, made me reply

caffeine intake increases with tolerance

1. It's a range and you start at the bottom.
2. https://www.acsm.org/docs/current-comments/caffeineandexercise.pdf
3.
>110 kg
>shaky and light headed at 200mg
Individual reactions vary, but this strikes me as unlikely to be the caffeine's fault.
>>37952298
200mg is a little more than a can of Monster
If you get shaky after that you're not 110kg

I only drink 1 cup of coffee a day max. Maybe you should stop drinking coffee like it's water if you need half a gram of cafein before lifting
Seriously do you guys even tolerance
>>37952467
>weigh 90kg
>drink coffee, tea, or caffeinated soda maybe once every 2-3 weeks
>took 200mg caffeine before lifting
>have an awesome session
>think "damn, I gotta do that again!"
>keep getting a nice boost
>"oh the ACSM says I can take a lot more, let's do 400"
>have EVEN BETTER session
>keep taking 400
>still rarely or never drink coffee, tea, or caffeinated soda
feels gud man
>>37952253
There are 160 mg in one can.
