Beginner here, about a month into Stronglifts. Felt really good squatting 200lbs today, but then I failed my bench at 105. I know, I'm a fucking weakling.

What auxiliary exercises should I be doing to build my arms? These things are spaghetti
>>
And, if it matters at all, I'm a 5'11" skinnyfat, like 150lbs

Bench is not arms, it is chest and shoulders.

Okay. Same question. Anything you suggest outside of the regular program?
(A: Squat, ohp, deadlift, then B: squat, bench, pendeley row).

pushups, just drop down and bust a few out everytime you get up from your chair. look for videos on how to do a proper pushup dont just assume that you know. one important thing is to make sure the last pushup of your set is still easy so you aren't getting in the way of your bench

then just slowly increase the reps of your sets maybe like +1 rep/week to start out

Why's your squat so much higher than your bench?

>bench is not arms
What are triceps?

To build your arms:
Dips and chin ups+some curls if you want

To improve your bench:
Close grip bench and incline dumbbell bench

Will do! Thanks for the advice.

Dunno m8. Been a distance runner all my life, first time lifting, or really using my upper body in any athletic way whatsoever. That must have something to do with it. Maybe my bench form is bad, too. I think I've spent a lot more time reading about other exercises and assuming I was just benching right because it looks easy.

I've already been doing chin ups and dips after the workout. I'll try the bench variations, too! Thanks for your help

>bench is not arms
lol it is chest/shoulders/arms

This.

OP, do tricep accessories.

Once you can OHP 135lbs, bench 225lbs, squat 315lbs, and dead lift 405lbs, you've made it.

also read SS the book and do SS. you fucked up picking stupid ass SL.
>>
I'm also a beginner. Like 3 months into SL, I weigh 140.
I squat 115 and bench 105. I don't know why I can't make progress. I think my weight is finally going up but I still can't add 5 lbs every week. I can barely maintain what I did last week. Feels bad.

>>37948141
Do SS instead of SL to build bigger arms

Would love to hear from you guys why SS is better than SL. Both seem to have a strong contingent of internet fans
>>
>>37949064
The difference, aa far as I can tell, is 3x5 vs 5x5, power cleans vs rows. How can I have fucked up that hard picking stupid SL when they're practically the same?
>>
>>37948888

what happens after you make it?

Anyone have a response to this?
