If anything, the metabolic advantage is with carbs because converting them to fat takes energy and most people experience an increase in energy expenditure on high carb diets because there is preference towards oxidizing carbs rather than storing them as fat, and carbs give you energy to be as active as possible. People on keto experience a decrease in energy and activity because they are in fucking ketosis and can no longer fuel any of the cells in their body as effectively as possible.

I did keto
It was pretty cash, it worked for me cause my lust for food completely died and I could just eat what I wanted (planned) to eat without feeling any desire for more food

Helped me break a plateau, stopped keto after 6 weeks and now I do a conventional defecit diet but it helped me get down below a certain weight I got stuck at as an ex obese.

The diets in themselves only work if they create a defecit true, but sometimes a bit of change can help someone who is struggling with a diet to pick up his diet again with new vigor cause you're trying something new and fresh and you're excited about seeing results again.

I was always super fat because single mom, and hit 332 at 26, I was starting a program for getting stomach surgery, desperate, wanted to die, etc etc.

came on fit in like 2009, googled PSMF, lost 20lbs first month, 10/m after with that with like like 10 cheat days a month (hardcore i know) until i was 182 about 16 months later.

i maintained for two years,,, until i starting breaking bones being 2xtr3m3 with my new body, feeling invincible. I had a fuck load of psychological issues (duh) relating to my new body too. today i'm 32 and have gained back half of it without doing the program since like 2013, but I terrible eating habbits, I'm a massive food addict, again, but honestly I liked those results. And I definitely didn't gain in back by eating "normally"

Sure, the basic caloric counting remains the same.

But most of the these diets are made in such a way that they fuck with small aspects of the smaller, secondary important parts of what you eat.

Things that can change food sense. Diets that work well with sports (lke the keto, there exists a cyclical keto diet just for that), or diets that exploit the natural circadian cycle (allows you to easily cut eating in the morning so that you could generally eat less during the whole day in total)

Because op, like it or not but we are still animals. The desire to eat stuff or not to eat stuff is extremely important in a diet. Especially for people who are either average or below average of IQ, who cannot suppress their food lust.

If there was a ranking on the popular diets and their hardness. A 100% pure caloric deficit diet would be at #1. Especially above 30% of your TDEE.

That is why I did the best of both worlds and did a keto diet, along with a caloric deficit diet for 3 weeks. Its easier to leave carbs out the door while dieting I guess.

But I wouldn't even call veganism a diet in sense of losing weight because being vegan is just that you don't eat anything that comes from animals. You wouldn't call an omnivore who doesn't eat onions, eggplants or tomatoes dieting. Veganism is the same, you can eat very differently from another vegan and they don't have more in common than 2 random people who don't really follow a diet but one eats healthy and another one mostly fast food.
