Lets say you're turbo-skelly, underweight on a BMI chart. Does working out make you taller in any conceivable way, even .5"? Wouldn't it have to at least make your spine less susceptible to gravity compressing it, which making you shorter throughout the day? I'm just barely 5'10 when i wake up but sitting all day and being on my computer, I compress down to 5'9 - 5'9.5" by the end of the day. Clearly, it will fill you out and make you wider, have broader shoulders etc.. but it would have to affect your height.

If anything you'd get smaller from compressing yourself I.e. squat/deadlift

It would at the very least allow your body to not be compressed by gravity throughout the day, you wouldn't slouch at much, you wouldn't have a lazy posture.

Back in high school, I had the worst possible posture. Kyphosis, lordosis, protruding scapula, forward shoulders, forward head. When I tried to stand up straight for more than a few seconds I would be in serious pain because my muscles were literally too weak to hold up my skeleton. The fix consisted of conscious correction over the course of several weeks combined with lifting and daily stretching. I didn't actually get taller but it sure helped the appearance of height.
