I think it just depends on your body fat. I think I'm around 12-13% right now (don't really know), so for me to look really shredded I'd probably need to lose ~7 lbs down to 168. I think as long as you don't go above 15% bf it's pretty easy to cut back down to having abs.

the switch to paused bench has been tough, but i feel it's led to better muscle development and better tightness at the bottom

I switched to only doing paused bench 2 months ago. Every single rep is paused now, even AMRAP and sets of 8+.

How long did it take you to reach advanced stats, /plg/? I'm three years in and nearly left intermediate. Missing like 50kg on my total.

I managed to bench 1 plate (20kg) with an olympic bar. But the straight bar curl was pathetic - I only managed to put up 7.5kg on each side including the bar. Also, I do a lot of cycling and have huge legs, but I could only squat 1 plate in the smith machine. Squats are not a meme exercise - I can barely walk now.

Q to /fit - are my stats any good? Also, what is the consensus about the Smith Machine - it seemed like a meme to me.

Not world class powerlifter so the side effects of steroids are a deterrent for me, especially with high earning job.
I'm just not naive honestly, perhaps not everyone is doing them but it's definitely something that is done even in your favourite IPF.

Drug usage happens in the IPF (they publish ban lists, so this should surprise absolutely no-one). What people are contesting is the idea that absolutely everyone is using. Which simply isn't the case.

Plenty of people are natty, because they compete for fun and for their love for the sport - not for their country who needs to win olympic medals or because that's how they make a living.

To be fair, the everyone part in my original comment was a hyperbole, perhaps because i'm not invested in the sport to the same degree as Isley I just don't see a huge problem if some did drugs especially since shitloads of records in the past by strong as fuck men were set. (not just in powerlifting but barbell lifting as a whole and strongman)

The problem is, simply, that its cheating to use gear in a tested fed. Which is especially egregious in powerlifting because there's no fucking reward in it and a dozen untested feds if anyone wants to gear up.

Its like sneaking a bench shirt under your singlet. Nothing wrong with using that in a fed that allows it, but you're an arsehole if you have to break the rules to use it.

I was just saying it's not as common as in the olympics because most athletes do it for themselves and most do it for fun.
It's completely different from the olympics and weightlifting.

Just look at what happened to Klokov and Akkaev when they missed the 2012 olympics and Russia lost the medals they were pretty much guaranteed to win.
