What's the worst injury you've gotten from physical activity?

>pic related
>Got my throat slit by a skate playing hockey
>>
Lacerated liver and internal bleeding from HS foosball.
>>
>>37726248

What position?
>>
Man that's nasty, you remind me of that old video where someone stepped on a goalkeeper's throat and he bled out
For some reason neck injuries give me creeps

Funny thing is that I hit my head on the ice so hard after the cut that I was concussed and didn't even realize my neck was cut

First result on youtube kek, not even going to rewatch it
>>
>>37726286

If it wasn't for the zamboni doors behind Clint he would have bled out. Luckily paramedics were right behind him.
>>
Lifting dead weight (GSW victim). About 210 pound shoulder shrug getting the stretcher into the back of the ambulance.

Got shot in the back. One broken rib, multiple bruised ribs and coughed up blood for two days.
>>
Collapsed lung from internal hemorrhaging caused by rugby tackle.
>>
>>37726307

Shot by what?
>>
Torn MCL,ACL,PCL and meniscus from a helmet to the knee in a pileup after a fumble in highschool football. Also 3 diagnosed concussions, probably more.
>>
>>37726332

9mm into my vest. Never found the suspect or recovered a gun.

oh fuck, I can;t even imagine the sound your knee probably made when it popped...
>>
>>37726359

Shit I thought a bulletproof vest would absorb all of the impact
>>
>be 18
>dyel fag who plays football (yurop)
>friday night
>go out with mates
>have football match next morning
>come home at 6 AM from night out
>on the field at 9 am
>break fibula because I lost balance mid air and landed wrong because I was still kinda drunk
>need surgery
and after the rehab I started lifting, breaking my leg changed my life kek
>>
>>37726232

Trauma induced testicular torsion. Got my sack stomped on playing schoolyard baseball
>>
>>37726373

Fuck no. It felt like getting hit by a sledge hammer. It's not like Hollywood makes it out to be, knocks the air out of your lungs, you bruise/break ribs and it takes you a minute or so to realize what happened. I don't remember even hearing the shot (my partner did).

(This was a Class II vest, a III would have had better results but it's too heavy to wear outside a SWAT situation.)
>>
>>37726441

That's wild man. Crazy adrenaline rush i'd imagine?
>>
>>37726495

For me, personally, it was shock more than anything since I wasn't expecting it. LEOs I know who have been shot knew it was coming and got a rush so they could fire back.
>>
>>37726232
Lacerated spleen, 3 ribs broken, internal bleeding in ICU for 2 weeks. Skateboarding; trucks snapped on the coping of a 12ft vert quarter pipe and the bar was waxed so heavly it shot me off the side. I landed directly on my side.
>>
>>37726232
You tried the Iron Lotus didn't you?
>>
I sprained my wrist falling off of supreme scream at knotts berry farm if that counts

also hit my head pretty hard falling off a scooter without wearing a helmet when I hit a pothole as a kid
>>
>>37726520

Is the armour thicker on the front than the back or is it all the same?
>>
>>37726558

kek

nah tried to hip check a big native bastard
>>
>>37726595

Same kevlar thickness in both pads (front and back) and you can insert a ceramic or steel plate in a pocket in the front for additional protection (but the steel can ricochet the fragments into your face).

I never wore the plate (ceramic) that came with mine because it interfered with flexibility and hindered my ability to work in certain situations (confined spaces, upside down cars).
>>
>>37726638

You've used some acronyms i've heard of before. Are you riot police or something?
>>
>>37726232
ruptured spleen motocross
>>
>>37726658

At the time I am describing, I was just a paramedic, but the lingo doesn't really change between departments around here: Ambulance was a "bus," cop car is a "prowler".

I went on to be a tactical medic for a city's police USAR (like a SWAT team) and sting operations a few years later and hated being a cop and went back to EMS.
>>
left elbow right wrist broke hitnrun while I was cycling
>>
Broken collarbone football with friends, seems like I got off lucky, but it still hurts when I throw sometimes.
>>
>>37726232
this is as manly as it gets. no homo
>>
Hairline fracture going up my left humerus from falling off a bike going downhill landing on asphalt elbow first.
>>
>>37726232
might as well join in: shattered leg, came close to amputation, dislocated shoulder, concussion, shitload of minor cuts and bruises: rock fall while climbing.
pro tip: don't let them operate on you in france, especially if they think you're german. they'll fuck you up good.
>>
>>37726232
I broke 3 ribs from leg pressing
>Leg press, not even once

Basically just didn't keep my legs wide enough during reps, put too much pressure on my lower ribs over a few months, eventually they just snapped

Other than that, I spent a while recovering after being hit by a car in a hit-and-run, broke my collarbone, and tore my right pec (not really a physical activity story, but it fucked my gains)
>>
>>37727521

Christ. I go to a cheap rec center and I use the leg press because there's no squat rack and no one to spot you otherwise (you're only allowed to bench press dumbbells, even).

Fuck should I do?
>>
>>37727603
Find a new gym.
>>
>>37726232

Tore my achilles tendon (recovery sucked)

Tore a hamstring (about 1.5 month of forced rest)

Broke/badly sprained my ankle playing soccer as some guy kicked it full force trying to clear a ball (since then it's been my 'bad ankle')

That's it really.
>>
>>37727647

It costs me $4 a month. Next best price around here aside from PF is $28 a month.
>>
>>37726638
Former Leo here. glad you made it man. Wear the fuckin plates.
>>
>>37726714
man iam getting into EMS ill never understand the people that shoot at paramedics or firefighters.
>>
>>37727702

I'm out of the field now and my last vest is now expired. I should have worn the plate and just pulled it out when it hindered me.

Really wish TurtleSkin was cheap when I was in. That would have been as welcomed as my vest. So many drunk homeless with shanks...
>>
>>37727733

Reason: Drugs/gangs.

Gang A shoots member of Gang B and doesn't want him to live. EMS rolls up to do their job... Can't have Gang B's boy making it.

Typically, they fired "warning shots" in the projects and you'd have to reverse your bus out and wait for a prowler to escort you in if they weren't on scene already (we beat prowlers to scene 7 times out of 10). By the time you got there, Gang Member B was circling the drain or DoS.

Just try to get a gig on a bus in a better community, one with no projects. If you can get in on a rural county system, it's heavenly.
>>
I broke my foot in a tae kwon do tournament
>>
Dislocated my knees multiple times. Finally had surgery to fix the MPFL on the worse of the two knees.
Tore my TFCC in both wrists. Still haven't gotten that fixed because I'm a lab tech and I can't afford the down time for surgery. Wrists look twiggy now :(

are you allowed to talk about the sting operations? Interested in knowing how they went about, you ever had your cover blown?
>>
>>37728093

Really, a lot went down just like the prostitution and drug stings you see on the TV show, "COPS."

We had a few foot chases but most people surrendered peacefully enough.

I wasn't plainclothes during any of this. I'd be in one of the takedowns (my tactical uniform said "MEDIC" on the back instead of "POLICE") that pulled up from around the corner after the deal was made and the "signal" was given (I won't give "the signal" away but I imagine it's easy to figure out).

As for blown cover... never really happened to our undercovers when I was in. Some buyers/Johns wouldn't close the deal, they'd get nervous and leave before there was enough intent to attempt to prosecute, so we'd just let them go.

>Be a junior in High School
>On track team running +60 miles per week
>Get fibular stress fracture from over-training
>Was set to run at states, now unable to race.
>Leg can't handle high impact but can still bike and swim okay
>Coach makes a cross-training plan for me

>2 weeks later, be doing first cardio workout on bike since injury
>happy to be training again
>hit pothole, wipe out
>break both my wrists.

I hopped back on my bike and pedaled home before the adrenaline wore off and I realized what happened. Its been years but one of my wrists is still wonky.

Cracked ribs while playing lacrosse last season. Rib pads limit movement so I never bothered wearing them.

if ur a lab tech, what do you mean you cant afford the down time? its not like you have to write a thesis or publish anything

He didn't die. A team doctor ran out and was able to pinch his artery shut
>>
I believe doing heavy squats has been me hemmeroids. Not bad ones, but they're there.

I also get a clicking in my shoulder from doing improper shoulder presses on the shoulder press machine when I first started out.
>>
>>37726232

LCL and ACL stretched out/torn while skiing. Yes, I was doing fancy shit but a class of kids suddenly came out of nowhere.

I would have killed or severely injured some if I hadnt dropped myself...

That injury is what got me serious about lifting. So it wasnt all bad.

When lifting? I dropped a 130kg barbell on my front delts on incline bench. That shit then went down slowly, taking quite a bit of skin with it until someone got to me.

Didn't hurt much but it looked bad.
>>
>>37726307
Why didn't you secure the scene? Or do you live in Palestine?
>>
>>37727697
Then pay $28 a month you cheapskate
>>
>>37728580

We sent in in that case for an Unknown/Unresponsive and were under the impression it was a medical until we got there. No one reported a GS to dispatch.

My partner called it in as a GSW and since we were on scene, we weren't going to abandon the pt and wait for a prowler.
