I've been drinking diet coke daily for about 10 years. Last year I started to experience visual migraine aura which is directly related. After having a can or bottle I see what looks like stars and blue flashes (pic related) I still can't give it up. I've quit smoking, gave up fast food, but this has been the biggest addiction I've had.
I would recommend anyone to stay as far away from the stuff as possible.

this has always puzzled me.
If it spikes your insulin, for a normal person, their blood sugar would drop a bit, particularly if you're on an empty stomach, which would seem like a net positive unless you're prediabetic or have T2 diabetes because you may be building up resistance to the elevated levels.
I can confirm that diet, caffeine free soda does nothing to blood sugar, but i don't produce insulin, so I don't know if it has some kind of effect when natural insulin is produced.
